Desfrán – Day 195

We are deep into flowering now for these outdoor cannabis plants. They have come a long way since April when I started them as seeds. And soon enough it will be time to harvest. Their days are numbered, cold weather is closing in for the forecast. So I am going to be checking these buds with a microscope and harvest them at the first opportunity.

Strain: Desfrán
Dominance: 100% sativa
Nutrients used: Generic potting soil / Big Bloom, Grow big:All FoxFarm products.
Lineage: Destroyer x Meao Thai landrace
Current growing stage: Mid flower
Current plant age: 195 days old
Sex: Feminized
Location: Central Virginia

They have stayed green throughout this whole grow, showing signs of their sativa dominance.

The crystals are really starting to fill in on the buds as well, making them very heavy.

We had a few chilly mornings, and this caused the hybrid in the group the Blue Dream to start turning purple.

About a week ago, the buds got so heavy they all started falling over. And unfortunately a branch was lost before I could pin them up. That is the danger of unsupported buds. They can fall over and sometimes take a branch with them.

But using a few tomato cages cut open I was able to pin them up.

Man that main cola on the one above is so massive.

20260928_112400.jpg

From a far its hard to see them, but if the wind is blowing in the right direction you may just smell them before even seeing them.

Coming out in the mornings sometimes the Moon is still visible.

20261001_094405.jpg

Its always fun trying to get the moon in the shot of the plants.

20261001_094823.jpg

Cannot wait to try these, they smell so good.

20261001_094829.jpg

The yellow is really starting to come in, but this late into flower that is normal.

20261001_094834.jpg

So they all have cages around them now, next year when I redo their holes I have a plan on wrapping the plants in chicken wire once they start flowering to help give them support to grow better.

20261001_094842.jpg

The control plant, the Blue Dream is doing okay. No better than the Desfran and no worse.

20261001_094848.jpg

Some of the buds are hanging over but the tomato cages catch them.

Looking real frosty, going to start checking those buds with a microscope soon.

So what is next?:

I will be taking my laptop and digital microscope outside to check the crytals on the buds. Since this strain is 100% sativa I will be aiming for mostly milky crystals, with little to no amber. Probably right now those crystals are a clear to some of them milky. So once most are milky its time to harvest. Next week they are calling for temps in the high 30s F which is in the danger zone for these plants.

So if I can harvest before this upcoming cold snap I may. Otherwise they will need to tough it out the best they can. I could probably cover them as someone pointed out, but with the risk of bud rot I think its best to just wait and see instead of covering them. I guess we will find out soon enough if that was the right decision or not.

They still look beautiful, but not as green as before, maybe its because of the weather. Nice plants, I'm happy to see them again.

what a wonderful plants bro how i will love have plants like yours :D

  • Good god that is some weed porn right there! So exciting to see the big crop this season!

Up here, it is almost getting frosty so harvest season comes a little earlier. A friend has been dialing into discord and talking to us on camera while he painstakingly trims all the leaves and prepares the harvest for drying and curing.

I can almost smell those pictures!

The number of flowers looks equal to the number of leaves. I hope you have an abundant harvest. That small one doesn't want to be outdone, either, it's producing flowers too.

The runt looks nearly as tall as the others now :) hope you get a good harvest!

A cold snap? I’d choose to cover and protect them. I’d be afraid to leave them out in the open.

Welcome back, @solominer, it's great to find you again! 👋 It's me, Matteo, the former @amico and @amico.sports: I'm now @caparadiso, with a new account and a new chapter at my farm stay in the Marche hills (Italy). 🌿

Impressive progress with your plants! Following them from seed in April to full flowering at day 195 is real patience and dedication, and I know how much care goes into keeping a plant healthy for months outdoors. 👏

The weather is always the big unknown for outdoor growing. Here in the Marche hills, autumn mornings are already foggy and cool. How has the weather treated your plants this season, and what's been the most challenging moment along the way? ☀️🌧️🤔
