GRAVITY — Shavon Bonnie Legion & Makis Gibs**
“Gravity” began with an electric guitar improvisation by Makis Gibs called “Luminous Lullaby for Sleepless Machines.”
As I listened to his guitar world, I started hearing a story inside it — something distant and magnetic, two people separated by miles and lives, somehow finding each other through sound. That became Gravity.
I wrote and recorded the song directly to Makis’s original improvisation. I struggled for a while trying to get the sound and vocal mix where I wanted it on my own, so eventually I sent the vocals over to Makis and let him work his magic.
And man... he made this baby absolutely perfect.
Makis mixed, mastered and tweaked the track into something I completely fell in love with. I especially love what he did with the vocals and how beautifully they live inside his guitars. There is something about the way we work together that keeps pulling new things out of me creatively.
For the video, I wanted to build the world I could see when I heard the song: an industrial space station at the edge of a massive black hole — machinery, transmissions, frequency, neon, darkness, gravity and two people somehow hearing each other across an impossible distance.
I used several layers of imagery and opacity-overlay techniques throughout the video to create the movement, textures and colors. Getting everything to blend the way I imagined was honestly difficult, but when I finally saw the finished piece... I almost cried.
I am SO proud of how this came out.
This is seriously one of my favorite songs and videos I have created to date.
Thank you, Makis, for all the inspiration you continue to bring into my creative world. Your incredible guitar work has absolutely lit something up in me, and I am loving where these sounds keep taking us.

After years of feeling this was something behind me and just throwing paint through sound I feel like Bonnie Legion is waking back up.
