Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog today! ✨ In this post, I’ll show you how I make my own multi-purpose aloe vera gel. I use it as a base for various things: as a hydrating hair mask, a soothing treatment for my skin, or even frozen into individual portions. I love using these frozen cubes on my face before bed to refresh my skin; they’re incredibly helpful for blemishes and minor wounds, as they promote quick healing without leaving any marks. I truly consider aloe vera a magical plant! When I use a hair mask made with this gel, my hair’s shine is completely restored, and it becomes much softer and easier to manage—it truly brings hair back to life. You can find many homemade recipes online that highlight just how beneficial this plant is. In this post, I’ll walk you through the step-by-step process of how to properly extract the gel from the aloe vera pulp.
I started by harvesting a few aloe leaves—two were more than enough for the amount I wanted to make. The first step was to place them in a container of water so they could release that bitter, yellow liquid the plant contains. I let them soak for a full 24 hours; it’s crucial not to skip this step, as it ensures the gel is completely clean and won’t cause any skin allergies or itching.
Once the necessary time in the water had passed, I thoroughly washed the outside of each leaf to remove any residue. Afterward, I cut them into more manageable pieces and placed them in a clean container, ready to begin the process of extracting all the gel.
To scoop out the pulp, I used a small spoon, which really makes the job much easier. I kept putting everything into another container—though I must confess that, in doing so, I ended up dirtying more containers than usual.
Finally, I put all that pure pulp into a blender to process it thoroughly. An important point is that I didn’t add any water at all; the goal is for the gel to be as concentrated and pure as possible. After blending, I passed the mixture through a strainer to ensure that no lumps remained.
And just like that, our base gel is ready! If you’d like to follow my lead and use it for a hair mask, the process is super simple: I took a portion of the gel, placed it in a separate container, and added a hydrating ampoule along with a little bit of my regular conditioner. I mixed everything together thoroughly—and voilà! Now I have my own hair treatment. 💆♀️✨ It works wonders for me and leaves my hair looking incredible. Do you also incorporate aloe vera into your beauty routine, or do you use it for something else at home? Have you ever tried freezing the gel into cubes? Let me know in the comments—I’ll be reading your replies! 👇
