Hello everyone—friends in the #HiveDIY community and across all of Hive! I hope you’ll join me as I walk you through the step-by-step process of making these butterfly earrings. 🦋 As you’ve seen in my recent posts, I’ve been sharing my jewelry-making projects—mostly floral-themed pieces. But today, I want to show you something a bit different, designed for those who love vibrant, colorful styles. I won’t sugarcoat it: making jewelry isn’t exactly complicated, but it’s not necessarily easy, either. It’s an art form that requires a great deal of patience and a keen eye for detail. Ultimately, it all comes down to how you combine colors and choose the right materials. For this project, I decided to challenge myself by crafting these butterflies using only seed beads. 🧵✨

Paso 1/Step 1
On a piece of nylon thread, place 3 black seed beads, then add a fourth seed bead; pass each end of the nylon thread through the center of this fourth bead so that each end comes out on the opposite side.
Paso 2/Step 2
Next, thread 12 mustard-yellow seed beads onto one side, then pass the nylon thread back through the last bead. This creates a shape that resembles a butterfly wing. I did the same thing on the other side.
Paso 3/Step 3
After making the two wings, the nylon thread should be positioned on the top side; then, place a black seed bead on each side, followed by another seed bead through which the nylon thread passes from one side to the other, right through its center.
Paso 4/Step 4
Next, I placed two black seed beads and one white seed bead onto one side of the nylon thread, then threaded the nylon back through the two black seed beads; this creates the shape of a little antenna. I repeated this process on the other side. I then took the remaining nylon thread and passed it back through the central black seed bead and the black seed beads on the sides, continuing this until the thread reached the bottom, near the first black seed beads I had placed at the beginning.
Paso 5/Step 5
Once the nylon thread was in place, I added eight mustard-yellow seed beads to one side. Following the same process used for the first set of wings, I passed the nylon thread back through the first bead of the row—looping it around to form a circle—which completed the wing. I then repeated this for the wing on the other side.
Paso 6/Step 6
To make the butterflies look even better, I added a black seed bead to complete the butterfly shape, followed by one more seed bead; with that, the butterfly made of seed beads was finished.
Paso 7/Step 7
And that’s how the two butterflies turn out; all that’s left is to attach the hooks so that these butterflies can become part of our accessories.
