Hello to everyone in this community and creative writing enthusiasts! With my trip just a few days away, I hope to take things much more calmly than I have in the past few days. Until yesterday, I was sewing every single day without a break, to the point where I felt completely mentally exhausted, haha. Luckily, there are initiatives like @syllem's that allow me to clear my head for a while and reflect 😌
I've been thinking lately about sharing my plans, desires, and goals. I didn't see anything wrong with it, since when I shared what I wanted to do, I could get feedback from others and confirm that what I was planning was a good idea. But after watching several videos on the topic (I really enjoy self-help material), I realized that it's not such a good idea to share everything you want to do. Why? There are several factors.
First and foremost: Envy. There's no denying it, this is almost inherent to human nature, especially now that we've normalized wanting to stand out from the crowd, or as some call it, "the protagonist syndrome." So, it's understandable that if you tell someone your plans, instead of being happy for your determination or supporting you, they might feel uncomfortable, even to the point of showing signs that they don't like the fact that you might succeed while they don't. It even happens to me, haha, but I try to stop myself when I compare myself to others and analyze, realizing that we have different lives and tastes, so each person has their own process.
Other people's fears. This is when someone starts planting seeds of doubt in your mind, suggesting that what you're planning is a good idea. They don't do it out of malice, but out of a fear of failure, and when you listen to them, you might catch that fear. Once the seed of doubt has been planted, it won't take long to take root, eventually killing all the enthusiasm you had at the beginning. This has happened to me a bit with my mother, who is somewhat overprotective; A clear example was when we moved to the capital. I wasn't very keen on the idea of her going out alone, so I decided not to tell her when I was going out. I just did it because I knew that if I told her, she would soon start talking about the dangers she might encounter on the street and everything she had to take into consideration while she was out.

And finally, but the most terrible thing of all... they say that if you talk about what you want to do, you're more likely to never finish it, because your brain will interpret it as an activity already completed. In other words, by talking a lot about a project, you exhaust the energy to do it, since the brain doesn't distinguish between reality and fantasy, and when you talk about it, you have to imagine the situation. Crazy, right? Although I've also read that telling others about it puts pressure on you to do things (I think this happens to me), so I guess it depends on the person.
Years ago, I didn't talk about anything in my life. I'd even dare to say that for my family, I was a complete mystery, and honestly, I'd like to go back to being that way. Not for my family, but in general, since I've found myself in situations where I talk about something I'm planning to do, and after thinking about it more, I say to myself, "Why did I tell anyone?" I'd like to regain that ability to keep quiet, because it's better to surprise everyone with your actions than to overwhelm them with your ideas 😌
