It's not that I don't like going out; it's the transport's fault 😩🚌✍️

ENGLISH CONTENT

Hello to everyone in this community and to all creative writing enthusiasts! Today was quite a productive day for me in terms of sewing; I’m really excited because next weekend I’ll be selling my creations at a market 😉. However, despite being so busy, I don’t want to neglect my blog, so—even though I’m a bit tired—I’m going to use this little bit of free time to take part in the contest ✨.

About a year ago, I used to go out several times a week. Since I was working independently, I could afford that luxury. Back then, I spent my time checking social media for free events or art exhibitions to visit. It was quite fun to jot down all those dates and addresses in my planner and cross them off as I attended each event or exhibition. That’s how I learned to navigate the city a bit, while also attending interesting exhibitions and finding inspiration.

Of course, that was long before I relaunched my business. My sewing machine was basically gathering dust, as I didn't feel like sewing or doing any kind of handiwork—and I certainly didn't want to stay at home. Those were really fun days because I was able to clear my head. Public transport wasn't perfect, but it worked reasonably well and was quite affordable.

Unfortunately, good things don't last, or everything eventually comes to an end. Not only have fares gone up, but the quality of transport has become terrible. Before, you could stand at a stop and catch a shared taxi, a bus, or a motorcycle taxi within a couple of minutes; now, you might wait up to an hour, and the only option is a motorcycle taxi—at an outrageous price. This has forced me to cut back on going out, since arriving somewhere at a specific time sometimes requires leaving three hours in advance—something unprecedented!

On top of that, I feel that the round trip—aside from taking up more time than expected—leaves me incredibly physically and mentally exhausted. So, if I go out to unwind and relax, I end up feeling much worse.

I know things would be different if I lived in the city center; once there, I could reach certain places simply by walking—though, of course, that has its limits, since not everything is close by.

One thing I liked about the city where I used to live was precisely how easy it was to get around; from the city center, I could simply walk east to reach the most popular shopping mall—or, if I was feeling particularly adventurous, walk all the way to the main passenger terminal—all in a straight line. Of course, walks like that are quite a feat; you need not only good footwear but also the weather on your side.

Anyway, I admit I’ve grown accustomed to staying indoors since then; the mere thought of what it takes to catch public transport to my destination—and the even worse prospect of the return trip—makes me not want to set foot outside at all.

It would be nice if public transport improved at some point and became far more accessible, just as it used to be. For now, I just hope they quickly finish repairing the metro lines; the current maintenance work has made taking the subway another complicated hassle 😅.

✨ Thank you so much for visiting my post. I hope you found it interesting ✨
