Hello to everyone in this community and to all sewing enthusiasts! After an unexpected issue with my laptop, I’ve had to adapt to posting via my tablet and phone. Like any unforeseen setback, it’s a bit stressful, but I’m at least glad to have these options while I work on fixing my computer 🥲 Anyway, putting that aside, I spent part of the morning and the entire afternoon sewing some items I hope to have ready for the weekend bazaar. Among the things I want to bring are my "Kittens for Adoption"—cat-shaped plushies that come with accessories and have been a huge hit 😻 Today, I’ll show you how I make them, in case you’d like to make your own.
To make these plushies, I primarily use fabric scraps—not only for the toys and their accessories but also for the stuffing. They come in various colors (so far, I’ve made blue, pink, black, and even red ones), and each one includes a T-shirt, a mini scrunchie, a little bed, and an adoption certificate. I plan to add more accessories in the future 🙏
😽🧵 KITTEN PLUSHIES 🧵😽
As I mentioned above, I use fabric scraps to make these plushies, so I created a pattern sized to fit the scrap. The first thing I usually do is hand-embroider the cats' faces—eyes, mouth, nose, and whiskers.

Once I’ve done that, I proceed to mark the cat shapes on the fabric and pin the two pieces (front and back) together, sewing along the marked line—making sure to leave a small opening so I can turn the pieces right-side out.

For the filling, I used fabric scraps, though you could also use quilt batting or pillow stuffing. What I like about using scraps is that I can make use of every last bit of fabric, and this type of filling gives firmness to smaller pieces. After stuffing them, I closed the opening with a hand stitch.

And just like that, the plush kittens were ready ✨ As you can see, it’s a simple process. You can make any animal you like, and use buttons for the eyes or create the face using fabric paint.

✨🧵 SCRUNCHIE 🧵✨
As part of the kittens' outfits, I’m offering mini scrunchies; besides serving as a collar or headband for the kitten, they can also be worn in your hair. I’m using a piece of fabric measuring approximately 50cm x 5cm, along with a thin piece of elastic 20cm long. Since I’ve already explained how to make these items previously, I’ll leave a link here for how to make scrunchies so I don't have to repeat myself.
🎽🧵 T-SHIRTS 🧵🎽
For now, I am only offering one simple garment for the kittens: a T-shirt. However, I hope to add other items over time, such as trousers, long-sleeved shirts, and even hats.
Using the pattern from the plush toy, I created a simple T-shirt pattern and cut it out of stretchy fabric to make it easier to put on. I sew the garments entirely by hand, stitching the hems and joining the front and back pieces. Honestly, these pieces are what take up the most of my time.

🧵🛏️ BEDS OR SLEEPING SACKS 🧵🛏️
The other accessory that comes with the plush toys is their own little bed. I make these using fabric scraps as well, cutting a piece of fabric measuring approximately 24cm x 26cm and a piece of batting measuring 12cm x 24cm. I also use a small strip of ribbon—about 12cm long—to create a handle.
When sewing, I start by folding the piece of fabric and placing the batting or filling on top, then stitching a straight line along the entire edge, leaving a small opening so the piece can be turned right side out.

After turning the piece right-side out, I sew a straight stitch along the entire edge; this closes the opening used for turning the bed while simultaneously securing the handle strap. Next, the piece is folded slightly to create a separation between the sleeping bag's cover—or sheet—and the pillow section. Finally, the sides are sewn shut, and a seam is stitched across the pillow area.

And just like that, the beds or sleeping bags are finished. I really like this piece, as it allows you to carry the stuffed animal in a very adorable way.
When a purchase or adoption takes place, I like to let customers choose not only the kitten's color but also the accessories they want it to wear. It’s lovely to see how they dress them up 🥰 For now, I’m making the adoption certificates by hand. I started doing it that way on the fly, and I think I’ll keep doing it for a while, as it makes everything feel much more handcrafted ✨

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amantes de la costura! Luego de un inesperado problema con mi laptop, he tenido que adaptarme a publicar a través de mi tableta y mi teléfono. Como cualquier imprevisto, es algo que me estresa un poco, pero al menos me alegro de poder contar con estas opciones en lo que logró solucionar el problema con mi computadora 🥲 Pero bueno, dejando eso de lado, estuve parte de la mañana y toda la tarde cosiendo algunos artículos que espero tener listos para el bazar del fin de semana. Entre lo que deseo llevar se encuentran los "Gatitos en adopción", peluches con forma de felino que ofrezco con algunos accesorios y que han sido todo un éxito 😻 Les mostraré hoy cómo los realizo, por si se animan a hacer los suyos.
Para hacer estos peluches utilizo más que nada, retazos de tela, tanto para los peluches y los accesorios, como para su respectivo relleno. Los peluches vienen en varios colores (hasta los momentos he fabricado azules, rosados, negros y hasta rojos) y cada uno trae consigo: Una camiseta, un mini scrunchie, una camita y su respectivo certificado de adopción. Mi idea es irle agregando más accesorios en el futuro 🙏
😽🧵 PELUCHES DE GATITOS 🧵😽
Cómo les comenté arriba, utilizo retazos de tela para hacer estos peluches, así que elaboré un patrón que fuese del tamaño adecuado para el retazo. Lo primero que suelo hacer, es bordar los rostros de los gatos: ojos, boca, nariz y bigotes, con un costura a mano.

Una vez que hago esto, proceso a marcar las figuras de los gatos en la tela y fijo ambos trozos con alfileres (delantero y trasero), cosiendo por toda la marca, sin olvidarme de dejar una pequeña abertura para poder voltear las piezas.

Para el relleno yo utilicé picadillo de tela, aunque se puede usar guata o relleno para almohadas. Lo que a mí me gusta del picadillo, es que aprovecho hasta el último trocito de tela y este tipo de relleno, le da dureza a las piezas que son pequeñas. Tras haberlos rellenado, cerré la abertura por donde lo hice con una costura a mano.

Y de esta forma, los gatitos de peluche estuvieron listos ✨ Cómo pudieron ver, se trata de un proceso sencillo. Se puede realizar cualquier animal que se desee, así como usar botones para los ojos o hacer el rostro con pintura de tela.

✨🧵 SCRUNCHIE 🧵✨
Como parte del outfit de los gatitos, estoy ofreciendo unos scrunchies mini, que aparte de servir como collar o diadema para el gatito, puede usarse para el cabello. Las medidas que estoy usando son de un trozo de tela de 50cmx5cm aproximadamente, con un elásticos delgado de 20cm de largo. En cuanto a su elaboración, anteriormente ya he explicado cómo hacer estas piezas, por lo que les dejaré el link de cómo hacer scrunchies, para no ser repetitiva.

Por los momentos, sólo estoy ofreciendo una prenda de ropa sencilla para los gatitos: Una camiseta. Pero espero agregar otras prendas con el tiempo, cómo pantalones, camisas con mangas y hasta gorros.
Utilizando el patrón del peluche, elaboré un patrón sencillo de una camiseta que corté en tela elástica, esto para que su colocación fuese más fácil. Para coserlo, lo hago totalmente a mano, realizando dobladillos y unión de pieza delantera y trasera. Sin mentir, estas piezas son las que me llevan más tiempo.

🧵🛏️ CAMAS O SACOS PARA DORMIR 🧵🛏️
El otro accesorio que viene con los peluches, es su respectiva camita para dormir. Las hago igualmente con retazos de tela, cortando una pieza de aproximadamente 24cmx26cm en tela y otra de 12cmx24cm en guata. También utilizo un trocito de cinta de unos 12cm para hacer un agarradero.
A la hora de coser, comienzo doblando la pieza de tela y colocando encima de ella la pieza de guata o relleno para luego, realizar una costura recta por todo el borde, dejando una pequeña abertura para poder voltear la pieza.

Luego de haber volteado la pieza, realizo una costura recta por todo el borde de la misma, cerrando de esta forma la abertura por la cual se volteó la cama y aprovechando de agarrar la tira del agarradero. Se procede a doblar la pieza un poco, para hacer la separación entre lo que sería la cobertura o sábana del saco y la almohada. Finalmente, se cierra por ambos costados y se elabora una costura en la zona de la almohada.

Y así las camas o sacos de dormir estarán terminados. Me gusta mucho esta pieza, ya que permite trasladar al peluche de una manera muy adorable.
Al momento de realizar la compra o adopción, me gusta permitir que los clientes puedan escoger no sólo entre el color del gatito, sino también los accesorios que desean que lleve el mismo. Es lindo ver cómo los visten 🥰 Por los momentos, los certificados de adopción los estoy realizando a mano. Comencé a hacerlo de esa forma por improvisación y creo que voy a dejarlo así por un tiempo, ya que siento que así, todo es mucho más artesanal ✨
