Hello to everyone in this community and fellow art lovers! These past few months have been quite productive for me, even in terms of drawing. I tend to be a "slow" artist, and I'd been putting it off for quite some time. So, I started with a couple of traditional drawings, and after accumulating several sketches I wanted to digitize, I figured I also needed to prioritize some digital drawings I've had in progress for ages. But... what artist doesn't sometimes start a new drawing without having finished ten others? 😅 To avoid feeling too bad, I decided to focus on those abandoned drawings, and the one I'm going to show you today is one of them, since I started it about a year ago, haha. But the final result is what matters:
First of all, if you're not familiar with the characters, they belong to the Amazon Prime and YouTube series "Helluva Boss." My main reason for watching the series is the pairing fans call "Fizzarozzie" or "Fizzmodeus," made up of the characters Asmodeus (my favorite) and Fizzarolli. I truly adore them; they have amazing chemistry and have been my obsession ever since I first discovered them. In fact, you'll probably notice that from most of the digital drawings I've shared, haha.
When I made the sketch, I immediately thought I wanted it to be a short animation or a GIF. A while ago, I did a drawing of a music box that I loved, and I wanted this illustration to be just as romantic. The idea was that after opening a mirror, Fizzarolli would find Asmodeus inside, giving him a little surprise (Asmodeus can change shape and size). I did this sketch on a small piece of paper and left it with the pile of doodles I make, haha, but I had the seed of wanting to digitize it.
For this, I used the program Medibang Paint, which I'm quite comfortable with now. As for the line art, I had to work on different layers to create the effect of movement.

Once I had all the layers drawn, I moved on to painting them. I had to be very careful, because it wasn't just a matter of creating color layers for each movement, but also naming them properly so I wouldn't get confused, haha. As for the background, I created something simple, which is nothing more than a base color on top of which I added some details with a brush or some filters from the program.

When it comes to turning it into a GIF, I usually use a method that I think is somewhat "archaic." I convert the entire file to PSD format and import it into Photoshop; that way, I have access to all the layers without any problems. This allows me not only to create folders for the layers but also to use filters or adjustments that can't be done in the other program. The GIF option is found in the "Timeline" window. The rest is just showing and hiding layers to create the illusion of movement. It's a tedious process when there are many movements or they're long, so I prefer to do simple things, like this illustration. I hope to try using another program for animations later on. But at least I'm happy to have finished this illustration after it's been waiting for me for almost a year, haha 😇
✨ Thank you so much for visiting my post. I hope you found it interesting ✨
