Hello to everyone in this community, art lovers, and collage enthusiasts! I recently watched the movie "The Truman Show," and I really liked one of the scenes where the protagonist, played by Jim Carrey, recreates his sweetheart's face from scraps he cuts from magazines. I thought I'd try it myself, so here's what I came up with:
The first thing I did was cut out different parts of faces: eyes, nose, mouth, hair... from the magazines I have. After selecting the pieces, I started putting them together.
In the film, Truman tried to create a face that was harmonious and looked as much like his memories as possible. In my case, I just wanted to create a face, without thinking too much about proportions. I liked the idea of choosing a nose that looked larger than the rest, precisely because some people have a facial feature that stands out and can still be considered beautiful. For example, I was always self-conscious about my mouth, but over time, I learned to accept myself as I am.

Once I glued the pieces together, I thought about filling the blank spaces with color. At first, my idea was to use scraps of magazines in different colors, but I was afraid the face would get lost (still, I'm curious, so I might make a collage in this format later). So, with the help of colored pencils, I painted what would be the skin, and I also added strands of hair.

Finally, I wanted to add some decorations, like earrings, decorative stars on the face, and I even managed to find some glasses for her. It wasn't a perfect result, nor as beautiful as the one I saw in the movie, but I really enjoyed this exercise because I feel like I was able to create an interesting face. So, as soon as I can, I'll continue creating faces to see what happens 😉 What do you think? What name would you give this character? ¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad, amantes del arte y de los collages! Hace poco vi la película "The Truman Show" y una de las escenas, en dónde el protagonista, actuado por Jim Carrey, recrea el rostro de su enamorada a partir de retazos que extrae de revistas, me gustó mucho. Pensé en intentarlo, así que aquí les muestro lo que pude hacer:
Lo primero que hice, fue recortar diferentes partes de rostros: ojos, nariz, boca, cabello... de las revistas que tengo. Luego de hacer la selección de las piezas comencé a juntarlas.
En la película, Truman trataba de formar un rostro que fuese armonioso y que luciera lo más idéntico a sus recuerdos. En mi caso, sólo busqué formar un rostro, sin pensar mucho en las proporciones. Me gustó el hecho de seleccionar una nariz que luciera más grande que el resto, precisamente porque hay personas con algún rasgo facial que resalta y aún así, puede ser considerado como un rasgo hermoso. Por ejemplo, en mi caso siempre tuve complejo con mi boca, pero con el tiempo, aprendí a aceptarme tal y como soy.

Una vez que pegué las piezas, pensé en llenar los espacios en blanco con color. Al principio, mi idea era utilizar trozos de revistas de diferentes colores, pero mi temor era que el rostro se perdiera (aún así, me da curiosidad, así que puede ser que luego haga un collage con este formato). De esa forma, con ayuda de los crayones de madera, pinté lo que sería la piel, así como hice mención de los mechones de cabello.

Para finalizar, quise colocarle algunas decoraciones, como unos aretes, estrellas decorativas en el rostro, así como logré conseguir unos lentes para colocarle. No fue un resultado perfecto, ni tan hermoso como el que vi en la película, pero me gustó mucho este ejercicio, porque siento que pude crear un rostro interesante. Así que en cuanto pueda, continuaré creando rostros a ver qué sale 😉 ¿Qué dicen? ¿Qué nombre le darían a este personaje? ¿Les viene a la mente cómo pueda ser su personalidad con sólo verle? ¡Los leo en los comentarios! 😇
