Nunca lo he hecho.

Hello to all members of this community and lovers of creative writing! When I saw the image submitted for the contest, I was fascinated because I adore everything related to nails. I love seeing the evolution of manicures to the point where the designs are becoming more and more impressive.
From about the age of 12, I started growing my nails out. At first, I was inspired by a character from a TV show I liked who was half human and half dog, haha. But once I started painting them, my love for long nails stayed with me, even after I'd stopped watching the show.
I loved buying different colored nail polishes, painting them to match the outfits I'd wear that week, and especially trying to draw my favorite characters of the moment on them; although only on my left hand, since I only have decent steadiness in my right hand, haha.
Of course, this meant my nails attracted a lot of attention. I received many compliments on how striking my long, painted nails looked, and that boosted my self-esteem, since it was the only "feminine" thing I really liked about myself.
I even took a basic manicure course. I learned a few things, including how to apply acrylic nails. That wasn't something that appealed to me, since my nails were naturally long, and the whole process of applying and removing them intimidated me. I never put that knowledge into practice, but I would occasionally paint my mother's and a neighbor's natural nails; the latter was my regular client, haha.
So, I continued to focus solely on painting my own nails, although with the increase in work and the subsequent lack of time, I limited myself to using simple colors and stopped creating extravagant designs.
Something curious is that, although I like the color green, my favorite nail polish color is burgundy. I adore how that color looks on long nails—it's gorgeous! Now that they're short, I sometimes paint them that color, but it's not the same, haha.
Unfortunately, for the past couple of years, my nails have become much weaker, so much so that they break at the slightest thing and in ways they never used to. It might sound silly, but at first, it really depressed me. I loved having super long nails and I didn't like seeing my hands with such short nails, but now, that's just how they are.
It took me a while to adjust to working with short nails, since I was used to doing everything with long nails. Maybe it's a hormonal issue (I have thyroid problems and I'm on medication), stress, or something else. For now, I'm trying to keep my nails painted, because that gives them some strength, although I'd like to buy a special top coat that helps with hardening. It's something I used to buy all the time, but it got so expensive that I keep putting it off, haha.
I'd like to go to a salon and get some nice nail art done. I've never done it before. However, now that my nails are so short and weak, maybe it's not such a good idea. Meanwhile, I look longingly at other women's beautiful nails and hide my own hands, somewhat embarrassed, when in the past I was proud to show them off 💅💔
✨ Thank you so much for visiting my post. I hope you found it interesting ✨
💚 Until next time! 💚
