I have grown a great many mango saplings in my small garden. Whenever I visit my garden to water the plants, a new plant has emerged from the mango seed I had buried sometime ago. It is not just the plants that are sprouting infact it is my happiness growing.
Today, I visited my school garden after two days and discovered that another mango sapling had sprouted. I hadn't been able to visit for a couple of days because I was busy, and I was worried about watering the plants. Fortunately, it had rained that providing them with water. Other than that, someone or other usually waters them even in my absence so i was relieved a bit.
One of my mango was growing more slowly compared to the others, and I had been wondering about the reason. Perhaps it was shaded, as mango trees generally do not grow in the shade. I noticed a lot of excessive weeds growing around it, so I decided to clear them away. So that, the little sapling could receive nutrients directly and grow properly.
I brought a hand hoe ( Ramba) and used it to clear away all those weeds. I was sweating quite a bit because the sun was very intense that day but I was enjoying the process.
In a short time, the area around the mangoes was cleared. I decided to water them, as the spot where they were planted is a little more sunny area than the others and it leads to increased evaporation.
This little plant of mango was sprouting from the darkness for the third time. The previous two times, children at school had stepped on it, cut off the growing shoot. In all those conditions, it kept my hopes alive. Every time I watered it, it would push up a new stem. So, I decided to transplant it. I dug it out of the ground and replanted it in a different spot.
Similarly, there was another small mango sapling growing that the children had stepped on. I moved it to a different location, where I replanted it.
Hope so they will grow!
