After so many years of not going to a music festival, my friend finally talked me into going with her to Drops Festival. I was always a fan of good music festivals, but you know how it goes... with time, you start thinking you are getting too old for this kind of stuff. Dancing all night, camping, being disconnected from people and social media for three days, just enjoying life in nature and not giving a fuck about anything else. So when my friend asked me if I wanted to go, I was like... camping? Psytrance music? Dancing? Showering with cold water? Girl, I did that 15 years ago! 😂

I told my husband that she wanted me to go and asked him what he thought, maybe he wanted to come too? And he was like, “Oh girl... just go. Enjoy yourself, give your energy out on the dance floor and talk with your girl for three days straight.” Because when we get together, he knows there is no chance for silence. We have WAY too much to talk about. 😂 So I said, fuck everything, I’m going! Why not? Let’s see if I’m still young enough to enjoy this kind of festival! And honestly, I’m still a huge fan of this music. Psytrance has always been my thing, and almost every time I clean my apartment, you can hear psytrance blasting from my place. 😂 It’s basically my cleaning mantra. 😉
So... we went. It was Friday and my friend was already in Tolmin, camping and rafting ...yes, alone! 😂 So I needed to get there and meet her in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, and from there we would drive together to the festival. The only way for me to get there from the other side of Slovenia was by bus, and I honestly cannot remember the last time I went somewhere by bus. Probably also 15 years ago, when I was still living in Ljubljana. I was feeling adventurous, like, oh yeah... let’s start this trip! Wooohooo! 😂

She picked me up in Ljubljana and off we went. I knew the festival was somewhere in the forest, but I didn’t realize it was REALLY somewhere in the forest. No towns, no cities, nothing around us and especially... no signal. Completely disconnected from the world. And you know what? It felt fucking amazing. ❤️

The first thing we did was set up the tent, inflate the mattress, prepare the sleeping bags and, most importantly, open a beer and make a toast to our new adventure. Of course, we had to drink the beer immediately because it was 34°C outside, so unfortunately there was absolutely no other option. 😉😂 And then... let the show begin.

We were in the middle of the forest, with no internet, just people. Everything was made of wood and looked so beautiful, and you could really see how much energy and love people had put into creating the whole place and making it feel connected to nature. The first stage was already full of people dancing, and it was only 3 p.m. But honestly, nothing unusual. If you go to a festival like this, you know people dance all day and all night. Then there was the chill stage... ohhh, that music. ❤️ But we wanted to see the main stage because I needed to stretch my legs and lose myself in the music, and that is something I can always do.

So you dance, you drink, you talk, you meet new people and you just enjoy yourself. I also really loved that there weren't too many people because other festivals can be just too much for me now. Many years ago, I went to Ozora Festival in Hungary and it was amazing, but now there are so many people there. I mean... 40,000 people at a festival? That is not really my thing anymore. When I went, the festival was much smaller and there weren't nearly as many people, but now I don't think I could enjoy myself in such a huge crowd. That's why I enjoyed this festival so much. It was small, full of energy and full of people you could actually connect with.

And of course... I met a dog. 😂 Naturally. I told the owner that if she wanted to go dance for a while, I could take the dog for a walk. I mean, girl... she was SO grateful. Honestly, I'm not sure I would trust my dog to someone I had just met like that, but hey... that's the point.

People trusted each other. Okay, maybe not with my drinks. 😂 I'm still very careful about that. But with my girl? I always felt safe, and the organization was really good too. Drinks, food, security... everything was well organized. I honestly had nothing bad to say.

After a few beers and dancing non-stop, oh boy... I was DONE. At freaking 1:30 a.m. I was like... shit, am I really that old?! 😂 So we went to sleep, and I had already forgotten how shitty it is to sleep in a tent. It doesn't matter how good your mattress is. A tent is still a tent. But hey, we didn't give up the next day. Coffee, great breakfast, dancing, a little chilling at the chill stage, lunch and then... let's dance, let's talk!

We basically talked for 36 hours straight. I'm pretty sure we solved all the world's problems. 😂 And then we went to sleep again at around 1 a.m. Fifteen years ago? We would have been partying until 5 a.m. without even thinking about it. Those days are gone, my friends. 😂 But you know what? I still had a fucking great time.

The next morning, my back was hurting and guess what? We had no voice. When you talk for 36 hours straight and have to shout over music and people, what do you expect? Of course you're going to lose your voice. 😂

So... let's eat something, and then it was time to go home. Boy, was I tired. When I finally got home, I saw only two things…my bed and a freaking cup of tea because my voice sounded like Darth Vader. 😂
So yes... I had a GREAT time. But you know what? I think I've also made an important life decision: no more camping for me. 😂 I mean, that doesn't mean no more festivals. Absolutely not! But camping? No. My back is officially too old for that shit. 😉

And yes... I missed my husband. ❤️ But it's always nice to go somewhere with your girl, to talk, to dance, to laugh, to disconnect from the world and just have a fucking good time. Sometimes you really don't need internet. You just need nature, good music, your best girl... and maybe a few beers. 😉🍻

With love, @tinabrezpike ❤️
