Recap of July – too much of everything

I don't know how, but somehow it's already August. Seriously... where did July go?!

So much happened this month. There were happy moments, exciting moments, lots of laughs... and unfortunately, also some sadness.

So here are a few things that happened this month.

After coming back from Croatia, we spent a week at our lake. We went fishing, ate way too much, and of course... celebrated my birthday!

It wasn't anything big, just a few friends, a little bit of alcohol (a little, I promise! 😂), some Omaha Poker, me taking almost all of my friends' money, then celebrating because I won... and spending the next two days dying with the worst hangover.

Yep... when you don't drink often, you forget that three beers are already too much. Apparently, when you turn 35, your body doesn't even want three beers anymore... one is enough. 😂 Lesson learned! ( NOT)

But I got to spend those days with my family, my friends... and lots of pets. ❤️

Of course, my co-workers didn't forget my birthday. Like every year, they got me a gift... and this time they really got me. I'm not sure if you know what Vegeta is. It's a seasoning mix that you can put into almost every meal. You know... first salt, then Vegeta. 😂

So why did they buy me that? Because one day my idiot husband loudly told all my co-workers that I'm just like Vegeta... I mix myself into everything. 🙄

And all because I asked him if he had finished everything we needed to do at work that day!

Well... it stuck. They'll probably never let me forget it. But hey... at least I have enough seasoning for the next year. 😂

We also celebrated my friend's son's birthday... or maybe I should say it was an old gang reunion.

Only... it wasn't like ten years ago.

Now there are kids, so everything is much louder. 😂

The funniest part? I went to bed before the kids. 😒🤔 What the hell happened to us?! 😂

Seriously... why are there so many birthdays in July?

Our parents were probably freezing during winter and... oops... July baby. 😂

Let's just say I spent a lot of money buying birthday presents this month.

I even managed to go to a concert by one of my favorite childhood bands. Honestly, I didn't even want to go because it started at 10 p.m. Guys... that's my bedtime.I was 100% sure I'd be too tired.

But somehow my friend convinced me (I'm still not sure how), and I actually had an amazing time.

Then... one beer too many. Again.

And once again I spent two days in bed, promising my body that I would never drink alcohol again. 😂

Going back to work after my vacation wasn't much fun.

Every day looked the same. Wake up at 6 a.m., go to work, get home around 7 p.m., take a shower, and go straight to bed.

I honestly had no energy for anything else. And on my days off, we either had visitors or we were visiting someone.

My cousin came over from the USA, so we spent a lot of time with the whole family. Yes, it's exhausting... but I love them. Listening to everyone's stories and catching up on what's happening in their lives always reminds me how lucky I am to have such an amazing family. ❤️

But not everything was happy this month. My husband's grandfather had been in the hospital for a few weeks. It finally looked like he would get a place in a retirement home. He really didn't want to go. But there was no other way for him to get the care he needed. One day we made plans with my husband's parents. We were going to have coffee together and then all visit him. We arrived, had our coffee, and just as we were getting ready to leave, my mother-in-law got a phone call.

He didn't wake up.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep. It happened so suddenly.

He was such a kind man. He always cooked for everyone, always made sure nobody left his house hungry. There was simply no chance of visiting him without eating something. When my dog was still alive, the first thing she did whenever we visited was run straight into his kitchen. And he was always waiting for her with food. ❤️

So now I like to imagine they are together somewhere over the rainbow. He's cooking. She's happily eating. And they're both looking down at us with a smile. ❤️

So yes... July was a lot.

A lot of happiness. A lot of laughter. A lot of love. And a lot of emotions.

Life is still pretty busy right now, but I'll find some time to write more over the next few weeks. ❤️

I hope you're enjoying this hot summer weather... Because honestly...

I'm definitely not. 😒

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather in law and that you all never made it in time to see him. Take care
