An authentic village and a traditional Romanian festival in Bihor County, Romania

Authentic Romanian villages and traditional customs are disappearing. I can't bear the thought of modernity rolling over us like a steamroller. It seems that time spares no one.
In 2025, I had difficulty finding a few traditional Romanian events to attend, i.e., events that were no more than 300-350 kilometers away, so that I could return home on the same day.
So, I found most of these events in neighboring counties, at an acceptable distance.
In today's post, I am not focusing on a traditional festival, but on a traditional house, an authentic house that is over a hundred years old.
Today we are in the village of Briheni in Bihor County. The first records of the village date back to around 1588. It is a fairly small village with a population of up to 300 inhabitants. Do you know what is amazing about this village? Traditions and authenticity are preserved from generation to generation, which is what attracted me to come to this festival.
We arrived here by car after a journey of almost two and a half hours (there is no highway on this stretch of road, so we had to travel the entire distance on local roads with speed limits). We reached the entrance to the village of Briheni, which is surrounded by hills, and were caught in a heavy summer rain. We were unable to exit the vehicle.
But it was as if someone was on our side, and after about ten minutes of torrential rain, the sun came out (something I've rarely seen), so we could get to the festival. We had to leave the car in a nearby field (800 meters from the village), We were very lucky to be able to leave that field, as there were hundreds of cars parked there and it was muddy.
With the sun high in the sky, we set off on foot towards the village. The landscape after the rain is fabulous, epic—I honestly don't know what words could describe this image better.
After a walk of just a few minutes, we reach the entrance to the village, where we discover autumn decorations and the smell of fresh pie coming out of the oven. After all, we were at a traditional pie festival.
I won't dwell on the festival or traditional pies, but we will go and visit an authentic Romanian house with an impressive history.
Let's explore a house that is over a hundred years old, and what's more interesting is that this house is decorated in a traditional style.
There are so many traditional objects in this house, but unfortunately it is almost impossible for me to translate their names into English because they have old names and I don't know what they would be in English, and I don't want to make a mistake.
To conclude our visit here, we took a ride on the tourist train.
