Jerusalem, 1929. Shirin Abbas, a young beduine, was arrested by the British authorities for inciting a rebellion between the Palestines. However, her captivity did not last long, as Phryne Fisher—a private detective hired by Shirin's uncle, Sheikh Khalil Abbas—came to her rescue.

But that rescue soon will become in something else weeks later when the sheikh was found dead in a room during their stay at the mansion of their anfitrion, Lord Lofthouse... And miss Fisher, on whom Shirin put all her trust, must race against the clock to find his killer before it's too late.

Miss Fisher and the Tomb of Tears is an Australian 2020 movie directed by Tony Tilse and starred by Essie Davis and Nathan Page. It's notworthy that both actors previously starred the Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries series, which was based in the book saga by Kerry Greenwood.

For me it was an entertained movie, with no other ambition than to entertain its audience. The story reminded me a bit of the movies The Mummy and Romancing the Stone, adventure films I had the chance to see back in the day; no sooner do we have a death at the host’s mansion than we instantly learn that a cursed emerald must be returned before the last eclipse, unless someone wants some sort of plague to befall the world.

Of course, I still need to watch the series and read the books. While it’ll take me a lifetime to do the latter, at least I’ll be able to binge-watch the series over several weekends.
