I didn't usually enjoy reading or consuming fantasy-related content—whether books or movies—but I’ve become a bit more open-minded and objective about the genre since I started reading the *Harry Potter* series (at my daughters' insistence). That’s how I came across *House of Many Ways*, which tells the story of Charmain Baker. She often spends her days cooped up in her room until her parents send her to look after her uncle's house while he is away being treated by elves. Upon arriving, she discovers a home filled with endless corridors leading to various locations—and even different points in time—setting the stage for great adventures.
Normalmente yo no disfrutaba leyendo o consumiendo cualquier producto bien fuese libros o peliculas, que tuviese que ver con fantasía, sin embargo estoy siendo un poco más abierto y objetivo en ese aspecto desde que empecé a leer la saga Harry Potter (por insistencia de mis hijas), y de esta manera me topé con este libro "La Casa de los Mil Pasillos" el cuál nos cuenta la historia de Charmain Baker, una chica que a menudo pasa los días encerrada en su habitación, hasta que sus padres la envían a cuidar la residencia de su tío,, el cuál es un mago y está en otro lugar curándose con los elfos, el caso es que cuando ella llega a la casa descubre que está llena de pasillos interminables que conducen a varios lugares diferentes, incluso con varios espacios temporales, por lo tanto le esperan grandes aventuras.
One of the most beautiful aspects of this story is the evolution of the main character. She begins—one might say—as selfish and irresponsible, lacking any sense of duty or commitment; she is disorganized and incapable of seeing a task through to the end. However, as the story progresses, she transforms into a diligent, responsible young woman capable of facing any challenge. Her experiences foster significant mental and emotional maturity—something we all experience in real life, where we may not take things seriously at first but gradually learn to get our lives in order.
Una de las cosas más bonitas qe tiene esta historia es la evolución del personaje prinipal, el cuál inicia, podríamos decir que siendo egoísta e irresponsable, no tenía sentido del deber o el compromiso, era desordenada e incapaz de llevar a cabo cualquier tarea, pero a medida que la historia avanza ella se convierte en una chica diligente, responsable y capaz de afrontar cualquier desafío, ya que debido a sus experiencias adquiere una gran madurez mental y emocional, y esto es algo que todos experimentamos incluso en la vida real, al inicio no nos tomamos nada enserio, pero poco a poco vamos organizándonos.
I’ve only read this book, though as far as I know, it’s part of a trilogy. It features a really interesting concept, and the read is light, dynamic, and flows very well, with plenty of humorous moments that made me smile more than once. One thing that caught my attention—and led me to draw comparisons with other fantasy worlds I’ve read, specifically *Harry Potter*—is that the magic here is handled in a more chaotic and organic way; it isn't nearly as methodical. That actually makes sense once you realize the author of *Harry Potter* was trying to sell us on the idea of magic as a science.
Yo solo he leído este libro pero hasta donde sé es na trilogía, pero la verdad es que tiene un concepto muy interesante, es una lectura ligera y muy dinámica, bastante fluída, con muchas escenas de humor que me arrancaron una sonrisa en más de una ocasión. Algo que me llamó la atenión y me permití comparar con otros universos de fantasía que he leído, más especificamente Harry Potter, es que el tipo de magia aquí se maneja es más caotica y orgánica, no es tan metódica, y es que tiene sentido una vez que entiendes que la autora de Harry Potter pretendió vendernos la imagend de la magia como una ciencia
