Today, I want to show you the diverse beauty of the landscape around my house in the countryside. For those who don’t know, I live in the city of Valencia—the capital of the state of Carabobo—but I also have a small house in Montalbán, the town where I was born and spent my youth. I love the tranquility of the town, but work and family commitments forced me to move to the city. That is why I find such relaxation and enjoyment whenever I have the chance to return to the peaceful setting of that beautiful valley, surrounded by mountains. Just look at the view I have in the mornings when I open the living room window. Some of you might think I’m crazy—that there’s absolutely nothing to see, just mist—but that is precisely the point; I love the way the mist looks. And, believe it or not, hidden behind that thick, dense veil is a 1,810-meter-tall mountain that the locals call "La Copa." Ironically, when the landscape looks like this in the morning, it’s usually a sign that it will be very hot later on—and, as it turns out, the townspeople are right.
Look at how the landscape changes completely just a few hours later—about four hours or so—as the sun illuminates everything, revealing the clouds and even part of La Copa hill in all its splendor. The sky takes on an intense blue hue, bringing the landscape to life. To me, the beauty lies in the diversity of the scenery and its astonishing metamorphosis. And, for some reason, even when the mist descends upon the town—turning into a thick fog that hangs in the air and leaves everything covered in dew—it actually ends up being the warmest part of the day. I’m no expert, so I don’t have a logical explanation, but it’s something that tends to happen here in the town.
Montalbán is a small town rich in nuance and deep-rooted culture; its streets may be modest and narrow, but its people possess generous hearts, living each day with great intensity. Surrounded by mountains and cheerful clouds, the town holds the hopes of thousands who dream of progress—people who rise every day to study or work, their hearts full of hope, while their eyes take in the beautiful landscape. It is a town that, while full of ambition and dreams, remains grateful for what it has.
Well, that’s all for today; I hope you enjoyed what I showed you of my town. Thank you for the opportunity—until next time, God willing.
