English version
Halloween Contest: Spooky Songs | Michael Jackson's Ghosts (1996)
Hello Music community, today I bring you this post with which I will participate in the @wiseagent activity. The idea is to choose a song that reminds you of or is perfect to listen to on Halloween; if you want to participate, here's more info.
My favorite singer has always been and will always be Michael Jackson; he has so many songs that I think could fit into different genres, moods, and so on, haha.
Since the idea of the activity is to choose one that connects with the Halloween atmosphere, I chose this song, which is Ghosts, but this song has an entire short film where other horror or fear songs were also added.
This video is really cool as it tells the story of a strange character who seems to have magical powers, who is scary and terrifies the neighbors of the place.
This character is called Maestro and is played by Michael: he lives in a haunted mansion in Normal Valley, but his lifestyle causes a lot of strangeness to the adults, but not so much to the children.
So, one day, the Mayor of this place summons both parents and children to visit Maestro and ask him to leave because they didn't want him near their children.
Maestro obviously speaks to the man peacefully, but seeing that he wasn't in that mood, he decides to challenge him, telling him that the first one to truly get scared will have to leave that place forever.
Then he begins to demonstrate his supernatural powers, making a group of ghosts emerge from the walls and start dancing to the rhythm of "2 Bad." But also, during the plot, "Is It Scary" and "Ghosts" are heard.
Then the Master starts to raise the tone and do very disturbing things, like stretching his face, until he tears off all his skin to become a dancing skeleton, and finally possesses the Mayor's body, forcing him to dance in a very extravagant way.
Seeing that the people first danced with the ghosts, but then were horrified by what he had done with the Mayor, he asks them if they still want him to leave, to which no one responds. Then the Master turns to dust and leaves.
The Mayor, very happy, celebrates that he has won the challenge, but upon leaving the place, he encounters a giant and monstrous version of the Master at the door. The Mayor flees in terror, jumping out the window.
In the end, the citizens and the children realize that the Master is not dangerous, but a misunderstood creator of illusions, and they end up having a good relationship with him.
I love this entire video because, thanks to the writer and horror author Stephen King and the special effects director Stan Winston, they manage to create a super terrifying short film, but at the same time, danceable and eye-catching.
I love that Michael always sought perfection in everything he did and always wanted the best in his work. That's why he called these two characters to make this video the most chilling in his repertoire.
If you haven't seen this video, I 100% recommend you do; surely, like me, you will feel scared, but then you will want to dance and imitate the great choreography of the dancers.

With this, I conclude and once again invite you to participate in the @wiseagent activity.
