English version

LOH Contest #309: Beyond First Impressions

Lovely Monday, dear Ladies of Hive community, I hope you had a lovely weekend and that this new week is filled with good energy, and may it be so for the entire month of October.

Let's start with this week's questions.

Tell us about a time when someone made an incorrect assumption about you without knowing the facts. How did you handle it? How did it make you feel?

I think I've always had that problem haha, they see me one way, but when they get to know me, they think the complete opposite.

I think there were two occasions that surprised me a lot because it took time until I found out they thought that about me haha.

One was in school, I was always very shy and hardly spoke to anyone. It turns out that, years later, while talking with my high school friends, one of them confided in me and said she thought I was mute.

I thought it was a bit exaggerated hehe because it's not that I didn't say anything, but maybe because I spoke very softly or very little, maybe she just thought that for a short time. The funny thing was that he thought that directly.

Another time something like that happened to me was when I was already in college and was involved in several volunteer activities at the same time. In one in particular that I had recently joined, I met great people who are still my friends, and we even ended up being leaders of the entire organization of that volunteer group.

And that's when I found out that the one who would become the leader of everything thought or saw me as a spy, haha. I'll tell you a bit more, since I was involved in other volunteer projects, she thought I had joined this one specifically to steal ideas or do the same thing they were doing in the other volunteer project.

It was so funny and at the same time strange for me that he said that haha, but well, obviously after getting to know me better he saw that he was very wrong. It's a story he always tells and that I always remember with humor and strangeness.

Sometimes I think this kind of thing happens to people who are more shy, like they don't talk much, you don't know them, and you can imagine a lot of things. Like the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover.

It happens to me too, sometimes because of the type of clothes they wear, the way they speak, or their different tastes, I can come to believe that they are different or strange people, but I have learned that it is not necessarily the case.

It happened to me and it can happen to anyone, that's why I always prefer to get to know people before forming an idea of what they are like, because categorizing them based solely on the first impression or idea we have about them is wrong.

Recently, we wrote about our favorite colors and how they make us feel. But, how has your favorite color changed over time? What prompted that change?

In that post, I mentioned that I no longer liked the colors for girls or teenagers, and I think this is partly because colors have been categorized by people's age.

For example, when we are babies, it is typical to buy something pink if it's a girl or something blue if it's a boy. Or also softer shades like pastel colors.

In adolescence and youth, I think more colorful clothing is usually seen, perhaps to express their personality and so on. Obviously, there are many cases, like those who like black and always dress that way, but even they, I think, tend to have changes and decide to start using a bit more color.

I also believe it changes according to our maturity, our mood, or perhaps due to strong circumstances that happened to us. We try to start over, change everything, and somehow give a new direction to our lives.

In my case, I started with the color pink, typical pinky girl haha, but then I started changing to colors like red. And now more toward shades of purple.

In my case, I believe that my growth, from childhood to adolescence and now to youth, did influence it. Also to change my style a bit. Something a bit more formal maybe or that doesn't look so childish haha.

But I imagine there are many more cases like the ones I mentioned, or sometimes even getting bored of always wearing the same color, or, on the contrary, always having the same favorite color. It's interesting to analyze these kinds of things, which may seem a bit trivial, but are related to various factors that can affect us internally.

Well, I conclude with these questions, I can't wait to read your comments.

Have a great day, see you in the next post.
