Controlar la ansiedad y entender que todo tiene su tiempo/Manage anxiety and understand that everything has its time. [ESP/ENG]

Hello, dear friends at @holos.lotus—sending greetings and blessings. I’m here today to share an experience that made me realize how certain moments can cause us to lose control and trigger intense anxiety—especially due to the comments or opinions others voice. While it is normal for people to speak their minds, they often don't realize the true impact their words have on the person receiving them. That is why I believe that, depending on the circumstances, it is better to offer comments that help rather than cause further distress.

When classes started in mid-September, my son’s section couldn't begin because his assigned teacher was on leave to care for her child, who had been in an accident and suffered fractures to both hands; she had to be with him, making it impossible for her to start the school year with the rest of the class. That’s why things didn’t get off to the start we had expected. There was also a delay in receiving the school supply list—which was necessary so we could get a head start rather than buying everything at the last minute. At first, I took it in stride, thinking that these things are simply out of one's control; since there was no substitute teacher available, we just had to wait until she was able to return to teaching.

At home, I thought I would explain things and have her practice—especially math, which I discovered she actually enjoys, much to my delight—though the other subjects needed reinforcement. I figured we could manage that, but I kept hearing comments about her falling behind or how missing school would affect her later on. I certainly worried about all that, but the school didn't have the means to hire a replacement during the approved leave of absence; it was a delicate situation that required understanding, even though it changed many of my original expectations. And well, perhaps she might fall behind, but ultimately, there is a solution for everything.

I won't deny that anxiety consumed me at first; I was overthinking things and my nerves were on edge. But then I decided that for the things beyond my control, it was better to just turn the situation around. I dedicated that time to teaching him myself and reinforcing the material he was covering—especially helping him with the pronunciation of certain letters he struggled with—while also keeping track of upcoming lessons and what we could work on at home to get a head start. They were truly stressful days, especially when people made comments; while some may have stemmed from concern, ultimately, such remarks can actually increase anxiety for the person experiencing the situation.
