My Opinion on See You in My 19th Life/Mi Opinión de Nos vemos en mi 19° vida [ENG/ESP]

Hello, dear friends at @MoviesTvShows—sending greetings and blessings. Today, I want to talk about a story that makes you wonder: "What if I could remember my past lives?" And I’m not just talking about the one immediately preceding this one, but every life you’ve ever lived—whether it’s ten, twenty, or however many there might be. Would that be a good thing or not? They say the past should stay in the past, but wouldn't it be better to be able to reconnect with those who made you happy, or to avoid making the same mistakes again? That is exactly what we can discuss through the story of See You in My 19th Life.

This is the story of Ban Ji-eum (Shin Hye-sun), who realized after her third life that she could remember her past existences. Although she initially struggled to understand whether this phenomenon was a curse or a blessing, she spent her early lives seeking out those who had been part of her previous ones—often finding that not much time had elapsed since her last death, making it possible to locate them. However, an unexpected reaction eventually led her to realize that it was best to move forward with her current life and leave behind the people she had once known. She continued to reincarnate—sometimes as a woman, sometimes as a man—spending over a thousand years this way until she reached her eighteenth life.

At that time, she was a girl who simply wanted to give new meaning to her life, attempting to improve her current existence by drawing on the knowledge she had gained in past lives; yet, everything seemed to become dull and pointless—perhaps because she remembered so much from those previous lives that learning anything new felt somewhat futile. That changed when she met Moon Seo-ha (Ahn Bo-hyun), a boy a few years her junior; being with him seemed to set her life on a new course, marking a shift from her past pattern of pleading—whenever she faced death—not to remember anything in her next life.

But after a tragic accident, she dies once more and enters her 19th life as Ban Ji-eum. In this new chance—retaining memories of everything that came before—she wants to find Seo-ha; she loves him and needs to be by his side again. Not much time has passed, so she wants to give it a try. In the process, however, she begins to encounter people from her past lives, which leads to complications. After all, even if you left things unresolved with these people, is it right to re-enter their lives? Consider a mother who leaves behind a young child: if she reincarnates and remembers that past when the child is already an adult, is it right to return and claim she was once his mother? Or a lover who, in a past life, was the enemy of the person she now madly loves—is it right to recall that they once hated each other? Life is a roulette wheel and can be deeply ironic; enemies might become spouses, or parents might become friends or romantic partners. Remembering can thus be a cruel twist of fate, and she must decide whether recalling everything from the beginning is truly worth it.
