Hello, dear friends at @Motherhood—sending greetings and blessings. Today, I want to tell you about the start of the school year for my son. Not only was he starting at a new school—or "School Number 2," as he calls it, hehe—but the beginning also came with a few hiccups. Thankfully, everything has smoothed out now, but I wanted to share a bit about the experience.

When the call for classes went out, it turned out my son's school had started at the same time as the others—since some schools sometimes start later than scheduled, which is what I had expected in this instance. However, upon inquiring why there had been no notification or group setup regarding the teacher assigned for the new school year, I learned she was on leave to care for her son following an accident. While the delay was understandable under the circumstances, the proper course of action would have been to give advance notice and—depending on the expected duration of her absence—to arrange for a substitute (though this is often difficult, especially in public schools) or send activities home for the students to work on.

In my case, I started by introducing some topics and doing exercises or reading with him while we waited for things to get underway; then, two weeks into the school year, we were told a substitute would take the class until the assigned teacher could start. Shortly after, the regular teacher began teaching them. Thank goodness—despite the changes and the somewhat chaotic start (since they began later than the others and didn't have the intended teacher at first)—my son really likes it whenever I ask him about school. Although he sometimes complains at home because I make him practice writing frequently, he enjoys the classwork at school—even when the teacher writes what they need to copy on the board or assigns notebook exercises—and hasn't had any complaints.

There was just one minor incident where he got pushed, though he told me it was accidental; otherwise, it’s just a matter of the little things I point out to help him improve his classroom behavior and reinforcing the material at home to support him. As I always tell him: if the teacher says you did a good job, that’s fine, but if you can do better, let’s do it—for instance, sometimes he writes too big because he’s rushing, so we need to work on making his handwriting legible. Aside from that, we had a rough few weeks because his mom had the flu; she didn't want to eat and was so weak she could barely walk. It was a difficult time, so we eventually decided to go out for pizza to unwind after those stressful weeks, but things seem to be getting back on the right track now.
