Halloween month has officially kicked off—a holiday we’ve embraced here in Latin America and one I absolutely love. This year, I’m getting ready to hand out little treats to my young nephew and some neighbor girls; they’ve already let me know they’ll be decorating their homes, dressing up in costumes, and coming by for "Trick or Treat."
This first Halloween craft is a treat-filled coffin made from cardstock and home-printed designs—and I can promise you, they look fantastic. Welcome!
Bienvenidos.

I love being able to create digital resources from scratch for my craft projects; in this case, I was able to make my own digital paper. In the Canva app, I searched the "Elements" section for "flying bat vectors" and chose a simple repeating pattern. I will use this digital paper to print the design onto my cardstock and the coffin template.
To print it, I first cut the cardstock to letter size for my Epson L3210 inkjet printer, selecting the "matte paper" setting.
As a side note, I set the template's opacity to 14% for the bottom section—or the coffin tray—which was enough to see the pattern clearly and assemble it.
I cut most of the straight lines using a utility knife and a ruler, and the smaller sections with scissors. Next, I clearly scored the fold lines across the entire design using a stylus; I love using this tool because it creates crisp, perfect creases, making it easy to fold and assemble each design.
I used the same coffin template for the tray and the lid, replicating it on the digital paper that I printed onto orange cardstock.
All the folds are closed inward and glued with liquid silicone.
I also printed a simple yet beautiful design to add more visual interest to the Halloween coffin design.
I glued the Halloween image onto the lid of the coffin-shaped box, and now the treat box is ready—perfect for small gifts, party favors, and so on.
The design turned out perfectly; the lid closes very securely on the tray, and there is enough space inside to place small gifts or treats.
Something I really enjoy doing after finishing a craft project is creating a photo spot or a setting that helps me visualize how the product would look in context—for instance, alongside other units.
The prompt is very simple: This craft is my product—a Halloween coffin for holding treats. Create a small display featuring eight additional boxes on a Halloween-decorated table, including fun elements that evoke the spirit of the holiday.

I hope you enjoyed this quick craft—which turned out great! I loved making it and imagining a small-scale production of them.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you so much, and I invite you to stay tuned for my next post.
