Day of Destruction!

Newsday again! This time it comes on the heels of another day of destructive wind! You might think that we are in hurricane alley in the Midwest instead of way up here in Canadia but we get extreme weather too!

By the look of the picture above, you are probably wondering where the destruction is!

This is what the sky looked like before the winds whipped up and the rain turned to little hail.

Still no destruction here with the calm after the storm but you can almost feel the humidity I walked through for the majority of my 10k steps.

There were 3 tornados reported in our general area but luckily not in our town. Still, work crews were out cleaning up branches and full trees that were felled during the wind that even knocked out power for a couple hours.

I love these storms for the spectacle and the fact that no big trees will fall on our house. This house was not so lucky!

Trees were not the only thing in peril of toppling. Imagine the shock of heading to your front door and discovering power lines precariously leaning this close.

Along the highway, this billboard has seen its last advertisement and will be taken down soon.

Only half a day from the storm and the crews are on it! I passed this street earlier on and a hundred year old tree was laying across the road, completely blocking it.

Reminds me, we are still in the middle of construction season. Funny how people complain that the roads are in rough shape, then do so again at the inconvenience of closed roads when they are being repaired.

I did take a trip out to make sure Mater was alright and report back to @coinjoe. He was probably eying his tree when the wind was tearing through. Safe and sound.

Not all destruction here though. Not sure who in this small town would drive a Bentley but it is the hot rod of the week.

My fellow car lovers might enjoy this one too.

Back to the purpose of the day and my picture from the steps of city hall looking north. After this post, I am driving 4 hours in that direction to play with the guys in a music festival at a cottage. Can’t wait!

This day, however, ended with a fun summer party thrown by the chamber of commerce at a local craft brewery. A little cornhole for some competitive fun.

What a difference 24 hours makes. Windy and scary to serene and berry.

Cheers to everyone who walks along with me every week. See you again Monday when I am back from MAGFEST to share a tale of music and relaxation in wilderness paradise.

Some beautiful pictures captured here. I think I have seen green grass for the first time in months here in the UK the grass is orange due to a water drought.

Lovely to see community pull together and A pint of beer always saves the day.

We had some bad storms roll through too. They were kind of muted here on the shores of Lake Huron, but my sister is further inland and she had to go into her basement.

  • Woo Hoo... hurricane party!!
