It is #BeerSaturday time of week again like it has been for just over 9 years! @detlev is living his best life with a little off-chain adventure. So, it is our turn to kick up the party for #beersaturday!

This week, I am beering my way through efforts to extend the summer right into October!

First, the Pint of the Week!

Sometimes the PotW is a tin cracked on the deck, pint at a pub, or some social beverage when conversation and downtime takes precedence. In my opinion, the best of them are enjoyed right in the taproom of a craft brewery. This one was all of the above with the added bonus of being outdoors on a nice wodden cottage style chair with a handy cup holder built right in to the handle.

The beer itself is Broken Rail's Rule 43 Session hazy pale ale weighing in at only 5% abv. I peresonally prefer full, ~6.3% ABV but appreciate a well done, full-flavoured session ale which is exactly what I dicovered here. Tasty AND light and good enough that a couple of them made it home to my fridge.

Always good to stop at Broken Rail brewing!

# Everything Zen!

This summer, we have all spent time camping and sailing and doing all the summer things which has kept us out of our own brewery. This has given me the opportunity to discover some more regional craft beers like this one from [Counterpart Brewing](https://counterpartbrewing.com/) out of Niagara Falls Ontario.

They seem to have borrowed lyrics from a 2000s Bush song for [Everything Zen Hazy IPA](https://counterpartbrewing.com/products/everything-zen-hazy-ipa-5-31) and a nice yin/yang motif with the japanese koi. The beer itself is a fantastic, tropical hazy treat with a healthy amount of New Zealand hops which is all the rage lately. New Zealand grown Cascade hops must be interesting and when you add Citra and Simcoe, I am all in. Damn fine beer from one of my favourite newly discovered craft breweries! # Slake Wink!

Folks who joined me last month might remember my visit to Prince Edward County and [Slake Brewing](https://slakebrewing.com/) I brought a few home for the fridge and this [Wink double IPA](https://slakebrewing.com/collections/archive/products/wink) made another trip with me to a cottage party. Looking to get it going right, I went for this heavy 8% mouth puncher first as we were down on the bridge enjoying the river. Definitely not for the feint of alcohol and a healthy ABV edge along with a serious body and dry finish. Looking at the webpage, it is no longer available but hopefully will be brewed again next summer. Great live music beer!

# Back to the Brewery

I mentioned our own brewery which is where I am heading now as the kegs are dry and it is time to carbonate the last batches of IPA and Amber Ale for drinking. I almost forgot we sport-hopped an experimental batch of West Coast IPA as well and I am looking forward to see how that turned out. We are also brewing a lighter golden ale today which is perfect for people who are not fans of hops or malt, and enjoy a beer-flavoured beer. Hopefully the rain stops so we can lounge on the driveway sampling our wares.

New kegs of fresh beer we brewed oursleves will fuel us through the second half of summer! We won't go into autumn without a fight.
