Welcome to my weekly walk about town where 10k is almost a guarantee when it is news day.
Here, we see a historic building under new ownership replacing the copper highlight.
But I am spoiling the journey!
The mornings seem to be gradually slower arriving as the autumn settles in. Though it seemed darker when I was pulling my socks on, the sun was indeed lighting the sky when I made it out to the driveway.
Many of the trees have almost completed their leaf colour change and drop but there still seems to be nice fall views on the drive.
My morning routine was happily interrupted as there was a coffee networking meeting at a local salon. This time, business people gathered at The Pink Room beauty salon & spa. Nice to hang out with the newly elected mayor and council members along with business peers.
Back on the road, I drove past Mater on the highway and it appears his party has broken up. The harvester is probably off harvesting and it would seem his trailer friend has been sold. Now he is settling in for autumn and the incoming snow that will blanket his field.
Speaking of harvest, still going strong as the farmers take advantage of the extended sunny and dry period before the killing frosts arrive. This region reportedly produces as much food as any in our country and it is easy to see the proof in harvest season.
Still enjoying the potential midlife crisis-mobiles as I am waiting for my crypto to moon!
Nice to see the older cars still getting their miles in before being stored indoors for the winter.
Downtown is looking a little quieter than the busy summer as the last of the theatre productions come to an end for the season.
I can sometimes capture a view from the middle of the busiest street in town during the busy season. Now, it seems I can linger a little longer while I j-walk and not get honked at.
Back to the renovations! Th eQueens Inn is one of the older buildings in town. Operating as a motel, restaurant and pub for over a century, a big hotel chain purchased it well over a year ago and are still renovating. Surely the delays are because of the scale of the improvements and the hoops they have to jump through to preserve the heritage of historic buildings.
I will take you through it when it eventually reopens its doors.
My customary view from the steps of city hall looking north shows less crowded sidewalks as life slows down a little here. They are flying the film festival flag as we have a new offseason highlight to enjoy.
A perfect cap to my weekly day of many steps is a few in the dog park. Amazing the how much you come to enjoy the habits you develop just to help the furry guy keep happy and active.
The summer is gone, the autumn here and thoughts of the pending long Canadian winter in my mind. Birdhouse tree may be a little thin on top but that just hints at snowy adventures to come and my equatorial followers seem to enjoy seeing our winter through the comfortable filter of the hive blockchain.
Soon my friends!
