#BeerSaturday - More Cottage Beers!

beersaturday8 (2).png

Back again for #BeerSaturday after being away for last week! Our good friend @detlevis back on chain with plenty of travel & work done, with plenty of stories to share over beer!

This week, I am back from the north country after a week off and have some cottage beers to share.

The Pint of the week is usually a social beer enjoyed out on the town, one of the best ways to share a pint. I enjoyed this one at our own brewery as we reconnected after simultaneous vacations.

River Head Brewing is from my childhood hometown and apparently has delved into one off experiments in IPA which I love! This one is so exclusive, it is not even mentioned on their website. Fine by me as it was a good one! Hazy and tropical and making me wonder what versions 1-8 tasted like.

Cottage Beers!!

Canadian Thanksgiving is generally not what you would think of as good cottage time but a long weekend is a long weekend and we took the opportunity to escape to the lakeside. I will share some of the fall colours in another post when I get down to it.

'Til then, here is the beer! Craft breweries are often referred to as Cottage Breweries when they are located in cottage country in these parts. So,Boshkung Brewing Company is definitely one of those and my favcourite one in the area. This is what the fridge looked like when I returned from their bottle shop. A little east coast, a little west and a couple points in between.

ESB!

I remember enjoying English Special Bitter early before obsessing over IPA and visiting jolly old England. You don't see them very often at craft breweries so I was excited to see ESB on their shelf. Weird that they update their beer selections on someone else's website rather than their own but they are better at beer then digital presence!

The beer itself was enjoyed during a nice cool afternoon on the deck looking out over the peaceful lake. I probably could have enjoyed any beer in that setting but this one brough back memories and made me wonder why more craft breweries don't rock an ESB! Delicious.

Happy Camper

When I first spied this one on the shelf, I assumed it was another boring light lager or something like that. Definitely challenging to brew right so they are great but not my jam for the most part. Then I looked closer and discovered Happy Camper was a West Coast IPA!

Thier east coast IPAs are decent and I always associate them with the cottage and good times. This one was a spell more bitter and hoppy and delicious. I actually prefer it to their English IPA and New England IPA! I managed to sneak one home with me on the trip and hope I haven't ingested it already because this picture is making me thirsty! beerologistapproved.png I gotta bust out the coveted sign of approval for Boshkung for being a highlithg on my trips to the cottage and for the nice West Coast surprise. See you next summer!

Winter is long in these parts to be sure. I enjoy it as much as any other season but a couple beers beside the fire as a bonus summer extension is about as good as it gets. I look forward to next summer already and the cottage beers it will hold. Thanks for cottaging with me!

Gas is definitely more expensive despite very specific promises to the contrary, but thankfully beer hasn't inflated in price as much. You know what to do.

Let us celebrate the return of our stalwart leader @detlev by sharing our beer stories for #beersaturday! All are welcome!

Which of those styles would you prefer?
