Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 293....Pajarito de Farmatodo.

Hello, my dear bird-loving friends! Most of them are birds—of many different species—but they’re all beautiful. The only thing I can truly envy about them is that when they fly, they can go wherever they want and be wherever they please.

I share my mom’s view that birds are born free and should remain free—no cages. With their ability to fly, they can go wherever they want, build their nests, and raise their families too.

But there are others who like to be in the city, just like this little bird friend I saw last Tuesday when I went to a new Farmatodo in my city that was about to open. This little bird was also waiting for it to open—it even stood right in front of the door, which was still closed.

It was walking back and forth when they said the grand opening wasn’t today. It seemed to hear them—since it was walking too—but it headed toward the garden, where the ground was damp from watering and there were some plants. Maybe it was disappointed that they hadn’t opened yet, haha.

But last Friday—which was actually the grand opening—I went back, and to my great surprise, even though there were more people there, the little bird was there too. I don’t know if it was the same one, but it was definitely the same species, so it could have been the same one again—it was almost as if it knew.

Let’s remember that birds, including these little ones, are living beings too. We may not understand them, but perhaps they know things we don’t.

Later, at home, driven by curiosity to learn more, I searched the internet using my photo, and the closest match told me it’s called the Picabuey (Machetornis rixosa), with other names such as sirirí bueyero or jinete flycatcher.

I took the photos with my Samsung Galaxy 16 cell phone.
