Mi Foto y su Historia 12: Iglesia La Milagrosa.

image.png

Hello, my fellow photography enthusiasts and lovers of the stories photos tell—because every photo has so much to say, especially when we get to know them.

Take this photo, for example: it shows La Milagrosa Church, which has stood in the city for over 50 years. I really love the architectural structures of churches—or rather, their facades—which look so imposing. Not all of them, but certainly the vast majority.

It brings back a lot of memories, because I was baptized in that church in 1974, but it was kind of an emergency—the church where I was supposed to be baptized was closer to my grandmother’s house in the La Lorena neighborhood, and that church was the Corazón de Jesús, but that day the priest was sick and couldn’t perform baptisms.

So, after searching around, we ended up at this church, where they said it was possible, and they baptized me.

I haven’t been there in a while, unless I have an obligation to go, because it’s actually far from where I live, and I go to the one that’s closer to me.

Inside, it has a high ceiling and is very bright; plenty of light comes in, though at night they turn on the lights. And the stained-glass windows at the front are very beautiful. And its soft colors make it look even more beautiful.

It’s easy to find, since it’s on one of the city’s best-known avenues, Avenida Bolívar, right next to the UDO Dean’s Office building and across from Colegio Sucre—good landmarks.
