The Dean’s Office houses the executive and administrative offices of the Universidad de Oriente, better known as U.D.O., Ciudad Bolívar campus, since the main campus is located in Cumana, Sucre State.

It was founded on February 20, 1960—at the same time as the university itself—and is currently 66 years old. The dean, Prof. Maria Coromoto Casado, has served in this role for many years.

When I was in high school, I would usually walk down the street behind the school—I rarely went through the front entrance. Then, when my daughter went to enroll in her nursing program, that was the first time I went inside. At the front, there’s a commemorative plaque honoring the school’s first president.

I’ve since gone there on other occasions to accompany my daughter while she ran some errands at the same location.

It has a large parking lot. To the left, as we look at the photo, is La Milagrosa Church—which I’ve already mentioned—and in the background, they built a baseball stadium for both students and community members who want to exercise.

UDO is one of the oldest and most renowned universities in the country; being a graduate of it is already a mark of distinction.
