Maybe Money Was Never the Problem

I used to believe only things could be bought with money and they could change the amount of things. However, now I believe that sometimes, money can change one's perception towards the people around them.

There was this girl in my class who had been one of the closest friend to me before. We were a pair of best friends that did not need any reason to talk to each other. We would sit together, gossip about meaningless things, complain about the school work and share personal things that we did not tell to others. Back then, her family was a middle-class family and I did not really mind about her family's financial situation. After all, she was my friend.

But then, this situation had somehow changed after several months. Her family had gotten rich and I was glad to know that she was doing well. I assumed that it would be better for her to get more opportunities to reach her goal in life. I did not realize that the biggest change in her life would be towards me.

She had somehow gotten cold towards me. We started to have any conversations barely. So, if a group of friends were talking and she was there and if I tried to talk to her, she had acted as if she was not hearing me. Her actions were hurting me a lot, because I have not seen her like this before. I'm an emotional person so it did not feel good at all.

Maybe she never was my friend she hid her real nature towards me. Perhaps it was because I have not really known her as my friend in the first place. Perhaps it was because I was only seeing a mask that she wore all along. In the end, we stopped being friends. There was no clear answer as to why it happened. One day, it just did.

I still sometimes miss the girl that I used to know. But somehow, I have also learned that a friendship should not be based on whose side is richer. For if a friendship could not handle the fact that their friend is living a more fulfilling life than them and because of that, they start to feel as if their friend does not deserve to be with them, then that friendship was never meant to be in the first place.

Perhaps her money did not change her. Perhaps it only changed my perception of her and the fact that I was her friend and that I somehow did not deserve to be one.

Money really has a way of showing people's true colors, and well... if they show you who they are, believe them.

You're such a sweetheart for giving her the benefit of the doubt. But you're right tho...we don't know what's going on in her mind, so we can't judge her. Until she clarifies things or talks to you, choose to move on and never think that it's your fault.

I have also seen this too, people do change if you have money. But I think life should not be like this. We all should keep one thing in mind that everything is temporary here so we should live like that and try to help others (if you are able to, its not like you have to do it even if you don't have anything left for you. (that is totally a different story 🙃)). just try to spread happiness.

Yes if people did change that is there problem not yours right you were the same i think so try not to thing too much about that (that will be not good for you ok). as you mentioned you are sensitive one so i think you should be more careful for that.

Life is a journey people come and go (that is there purpose in our life ) so don't think too much about anything ok.

That's a bad experience, the girl hiding this part of her for long, but why do such and why becoming friends with you if she knows she would change. Well that's just life.

Here in my side, we believe that money comes with a spirit, a very bad one. Its either you learn how to control it or it controls you and when it begin to control you, you start losing lot of things without you knowing.

People changes can happened for different reasons, I think money is one of them but it really could be anything. Maybe just she decided she needed new friends. Nowadays you have these people claiming other people's 'energy'. And so they step away from them.
