In my country from young age we are given big responsibility such as being able to decide the future right away. Like if you're in your teenage you have to worry about the subject you will be studying because you won't be studying something you like the most, you would be studying what your parents want for you. Sometimes, it feels suffocating for the youngsters and sometimes they just accept their situation as they have no other option.
Most of the time theu are being forced to choose a subject such as science. Because with science you can get a good government job and also with commerce. But arts is seen as the lame subject here, if you study arts no one will value you or think that you're intelligent. Basically people will judge you for your choices and to avoid that we end up making the wrong choice.
I think at young age, we are supposed to enjoy life amd stay carefree and not worry about the career. Which school or college we will attend should not be the center of the attention, it should be more about comfort. Why worry about the future from now? Instead of focusing on the present. I think we waste a lot of time by thinking about the future. We don't succeed often because we never try to solve our present. We are not supposed to have a complete map of our lives while we are still trying to understand where we are standing.
I am still school student, I have already figured out what I want in life. As maturity does not hit at the same age for everyone. I understand that very well, even if I didn't have everything figured out, I don't think that would be big deal. I don't even think I should make it a big issue.
But I noticed when children are asked these type of question they can answer without thinking or without feeling ashamed of being unsure. But after growing up if you say the same thing, people will judge and make you feel that you have failed somehow or not successful.
I don't think being unsure means that we are lazy or don't have goals. Sometimes it simply means that we are still discovering ourselves.
There's still time to think and right now I don't have any sort of experiences, so how will I know what I will become or what should I be choosing. I think we should not limit those things to a certain age category instead we can enjoy life and make mistakes then learn from it and again make new decision, even if we keep failing we can keep trying as long as we are alive. To build a good future for myself I don't have a strict plan. Life is not a school assignment where we are given all the questions beforehand and expected to write the perfect answers.
Right now I love to draw, maybe somewhere in my mind I want to become an artist but in the future my taste may change so we shouldn't fix everything now. Maybe it is okay to take a different path even if it's not the right one, at least you can feel no guilt for listening to someone else. So, for now, I don't want to have my entire life figured out, I want to go with the flow but not the crowd.
