[TV] Season Finale: Avatar Seven Havens

Okay so i finally watched the final episode of avatar the seven havens and for most of the first chapter personally it was quite boring for me, I found the season a drab watch. It was slow and a bit joyless, and I kept waiting for it to give me the Avatar spectacle I’d come for. I guess the whole Avatar series is truly a victim of Avatar the last airbenders success, the first series they produced and you cant blame me for looking for such entertainment in the other series that come after it. But then episode 13 arrived, which is the season finale and it was dope. It felt like the whole season had been quietly winding a spring, and the finale let it go.

I was watching the season finale and I went in hoping to see the Avatar State, and the finale delivered something close to it. When Pavi finally stops being afraid, her root chakra opens and she is wrapped in a red-orange glow. It reads as an Avatar State of some sort but not the one we know from Last Airbender or Korra. The root chakra has been the season’s symbol all along, tied to fear, so having her conquer fear to unlock it is perfect. Now this is the part I can’t stop thinking about. That red orange glow matches the energy of the anomaly that besieged Ellora and it matches the energy Nisha seems overcome by in the flashback of their parents’ deaths. It also looks a lot like Vaatu, the spirit of darkness from Korra. In Korra’s series, Vaatu doesn’t simply vanish. He can slowly regrow, possibly inside Raava, the light spirit that reincarnates in every Avatar.

So the theory I’m leaning toward is that one of the twins carries Raava while the other carries Vaatu, a “dark Avatar.” Nothing is confirmed and the glow isn’t clean evidence either. Pavi has also glowed a Raava-like blue-gold in an earlier flashback, so she may carry both. It’s a great hook for Book Two. The writers clearly set up the twins as opposites. Nisha means dark and Pavi means light. Even their companions follow the pattern, Nisha’s cat-monkey is black and Pavi’s is white. Given the Raava and Vaatu theories, I don’t think that’s a coincidence. The show may be telling us who is who, or it may be a deliberate misdirect, since Avatar loves to play with balance. Also it seems like Pavi seems to be the only one who can connect with Korra individually. In the finale she sees her past lives and Korra acts as her guide, pointing her toward the Floating Isles to open the next chakra. That’s a big deal. Korra lost her connection to her past lives after the Vaatu fight, and Pavi may have found a way back. It also makes the “Korra destroyed the world” story look more and more like a cover story. What lifts this finale above spectacle is the emotional gut punch because Pavi learns what really happened to their parents and how Nisha’s uncontrolled power led to the tragedy. She then walks away from her sister. That is brutal, because Nisha has wanted to be the Avatar and Ellora’s savior all season and Pavi takes that role in front of her, not only does she take it she finally accepts it and embraces that she is the avatar or should i say an Avatar. The twins splitting up is a bold move, and I’m curious how long the show lets that wound stay open. Chapter One’s pacing definitely tested my patience, but the finale justified the wait. Either way as long as it is an Avatar series i will definitely be watching it always Images are sourced from:https://www.imdb.com/title/tt35854736/mediaindex/?ref_=mv?ref_=mv_sm
