Back is an Indian film, based on the autobiography of Helen Keller, a woman who at the age of nineteen months due to a serious illness totally lost her vision and hearing, for those who have not seen it I highly recommend it, on the other hand the story of this woman is to be admired, as it shows us that no human being is limited, She achieved thanks to the determination of her teacher and family to become a writer, speaker, among others, all this introduction is not to talk about this great movie, it is with the purpose of remembering the importance of some instruments created with the purpose of achieving the inclusion and personal development of blind people, I speak specifically of Braille.
The language for the blind or Braille system is used by people with total or partial blindness (visual impairment) in order to write and read texts of all kinds, in short it is a method of reading and writing tactile, being so complete that includes numbers, punctuation marks, mathematical symbols and music.
Now, what for us are simple reliefs for those who use it is organized as follows:
The Braille alphabet consists of cells of six raised dots, organized as a matrix of three rows by two columns, which are conventionally numbered from top to bottom and left to right. The presence or absence of dots allows the encoding of symbols. By means of these six dots, 64 different combinations can be obtained.
There are also special differentiating signs to convert a letter into a capital letter, italic letter, number or musical note.
This writing system is used by blind or visually impaired people to read books and publications, and is considered a means of communication.
Now, in the world there are countless people with visual impairment ranging from complete blindness and other large number who suffer moderate or severe visual impairment, so being aware of this situation Braille is one of the tools that allows them to have access to education, employment and life in general, In short, to inclusion and in society, in today's world, that is why on January 4th is celebrated the "World Braille Day", with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of Braille as a means of communication, for the full practice of human rights for blind and visually impaired people.
On the other hand, I think it is important to mention who was the creator of this system Louis Braille, who at an early age working with his father who was a saddler, damaged one of his eyes with a tweezers while trying to follow the family tradition, while the diseased eye contaminated the healthy one, which led to the total loss of sight, Years later he was sent to an institute for young blind people in Paris, where there was already a rudimentary relief system and when he discovered another method created by Charles Barbier de la Serre, he developed the Braille system, if you want to know more about the biography of this great man, who did not let his blindness discourage him, here I leave you a [link]( https: //www. biografiasyvidas.com/biografia/b/braille.htm) with his biography.
Now returning to the subject of the braille system, it is remarkable that in many aspects it has advanced since for example in my country Venezuela some years ago, the state created telephones that contained in their keys this system to make it easier for the blind to use them, also in other countries, I do not know if they exist here, soda cans with the expiration date in braille, tattoos, rings, bibs or baby clothes, bags, pillboxes, among others.
Finally, the sense of touch, which can be something so basic for you and for me, develops a lot in people with total or partial blindness and becomes an essential tool for their development and inclusion in society, so it is vital that this system has a greater presence in every aspect of society, so that people who use it can fully develop. Now I leave hoping to have given you to know a little more of this particular system, its importance and why this date is celebrated, I say goodbye waiting for your impressions in the comments box.
