My husband watches a lot of TV, in fact he has enjoyed much more the Nelflix account than me, many times I get to see half a movie, the end, and then I see the beginning because I get hooked by the plot or I want to know how it all started, hahaha, a few days ago when I got to the room to go to sleep I arrived to see the denouement or the part with more action of a movie, I stayed to watch it because the protagonist was Nicolas Cage.

The movie I saw is called The Great Assault and tells the various stories of several people who were involved in an attempted assault by a group of former soldiers or mercenaries who after being mocked by their contractor who was a man involved in money laundering, want to collect the work for which they were hired, so the film begins with a scene in which a woman is seen making from a laptop a large number of bank transfers in a secluded place and apparently very safe, But upon leaving the facility they are attacked by this group of mercenaries who want to charge for their services and also consummate a revenge since the mission they were sent on was a trap and they were expected to die, so they enter the site attack vehicles, escorts and companions and when they reach the man who had hired them he informs them that the money was transferred to a bank in Michigan.

In this case an interpol agent is involved and is sent with the purpose of catching this group that has already caused much damage in different places, which are identified, but so far it has been impossible to catch them, so this agent is sent to the United States to find their whereabouts.

Now, this is where Nicolas Cage enters the scene, a policeman about to retire, who is a partner of his son-in-law and who has a fractured relationship with his daughter, as she is very upset with him, for the attitude that his father took to the illness of his mother, on the other hand we have a secondary character, but that draws attention to a young teenager of African descent named Kenny who suffers from bullying and in an attempt to defend himself hits one of his bullies and faints him, Thanks to this ends up in a school plan, in which the boys spend a day with the police for the purpose of observing closely the consequences that can lead to certain behaviors so Mike Chandler (Nicolas Cage) and Steve (Mike Chandler) are responsible for giving a lesson shows this boy or as it is called in the movie companion, so while they give a recocrrido notice that in front of the bank is badly parked a van.

Likewise, this van was that of the mercenaries who have entered to rob the bank and seeing outside the patrol perform various actions first with the purpose of the police away from the place and failing to do so, begins the typical in the movies of assault, the shooting and the various actions to rescue the hostages.

Although I have never done it, in this publication I will dare to make a personal criticism about some aspects, the first thing seems to me that this film did not have a big budget to develop the plot a little more leaving several stories as unfinished and roles of actors underdeveloped or exploited, such as the Interpol agent who I thought would participate a little more in the action and was relegated.

On the other hand, Nicolas Cage's performance is different from others, or that is my impression, maybe it is the role, but when you think that this character is going to develop a little more, he stagnates, he is forgotten, now as for Kenny, played by Mike Chandler, who for me is the outstanding actor of the film, he really shows signs of being a character that grows as the film progresses. In the same way, as for the assailants, the scenes where they are cornered and manage to defeat them so easily, is a bit far-fetched, since they are supposed to be experienced war veterans, but being cornered in a building a lot could happen, but well, this could have been exploited more, but it is another criticism I make to this film.

In summary, although this film is, I think, the worst of those who has filmed Nicolas Cage, if we focus on entertainment fulfills its role, now if we get critical I do not think it is one of those that we want to see again, so if you have not seen it you know what to expect and if you visit it I hope to read your impressions about it in the comments box.
