"Halo" (Season 2, Episode 7) by Dennie Gordon - Nearing the Halo

Review by @afterglow · 731d · of Halo

Greetings!

In the previous episode, we saw that Ackerson successfully manipulated Kai into believing that John-117 is not his usual self and that he is dangerous and a threat to himself and the UNSC. Kai then beats John-117 to bleed while he is not retaliating. Then there's the daughter of Dr. Halsey studying Forerunner technology.

This episode continues with episode seven left. It is in this episode that we see the culmination of the plot of the series going into its conclusion. It remains to be seen what will happen to the Halo, to Ackerson, and to Parangosky. Is John-117 going to reach the Halo on episode seven? It remains to be seen.

I did not expect...

I did not expect on this episode that Ackerson would double down on the fate of the Spartan Is when he tried to stop Parangosky from sacrificing all of the Spartan Is he had trained all the win the battle and she believes that if they do not win the human race will not live another day to fight another war once the covenant reached the Halo.

Also, I don't particularly appreciate when Parangosky that she is willing to sacrifice all of the Spartan IIIs just to win the battle. Paragosky is all about winning a battle but then Ackerson seems to be having a change of heart by trying to convince Parangosky not to send more Spartan IIIs because the first wave has just been eliminated.

Death of a priest

One of the most satisfying moments in this episode is when the Priest onboard the ship of Makee finally dies (he was slain by Makee). This priest is a threat to Makee and is one of the antagonists who only want to reach and see the Halo so that they can annihilate the human race once and for all.

A change of heart

What I like in this episode is that Ackerson seems to be becoming a pro-hero instead of an anti-hero as he has shown that he is not willing to sacrifice lives for the sake of winning a battle.

Master Chief and his armor

I know that it is only a matter of time before Master Chief united with his armor and once he did almost no covenant soldier was able to stop him. Since this episode ended with the Master Chief wearing his armor it makes me excited that the season finale will be action and we will the the fighting prowess of the Master Chief once again.

Discovery of an Ancient Forerunner City

I'll be honest I am not that knowledgeable of the storyline of the Halo franchise. So, when Kwan Ha, together with Dr. Halsey and her scientist daughter was able to open a gate that leads to an ancient Forerunner City I was very impressed and excited because I knew that the next episode would be revealing something big.

Conclusion

All in all this episode does not disappoint because there are lots of events happening, like the discovery of an ancient city, Ackerson's change of heart, and many more which leads to the season finale. I am sure the season finale will be action-packed and will drop important events of the series going forward.

That is all for now guys, catch you up with the next one. Wishing you all safety, good health, and abundance.
