Hello, internet people! How are you? Today I want to talk to you about one of my favourite comedy movies and it's The Addams Family 2. This one has all the elements to make us laugh and keep the best scenes in our memories. Without further ado, let's get started.
¡Hola, gente de internet! ¿Cómo están? Hoy quiero hablarles de una de mis películas de comedia preferida y se trata de Los locos Addams 2. Esta tiene todos los elementos para hacernos reír y que guardemos las mejores escenas en nuestra memoria. Sin más preámbulos, comencemos.
The story begins after the arrival of the new Addams and after which, Gomes and Morticia decide to look for a nanny, after exhausting their options, Debby arrives, a beautiful and sensual blonde girl that Fester Addams falls in love with. She soon wins the Addam's trust, but what they don't know is that Debby is a serial killer who seeks out single men and millionaires to kill them and keep their fortune for herself. Wednesday is the one who discovers her true plans and Debby convinces Gomes and Morticia to send the kids on a camping trip to Chippewa, and that's where the best part of the film begins.
La historia empieza después de la llegada del nuevo Addams y tras el cuál, Homero y Morticia deciden buscar una niñera, después de agotar sus opciones, llega Debby, una hermosa y sensual rubia de la que Lucas Addams queda prendado. Ella se gana la confianza de los Addams al poco tiempo, pero lo que ellos desconocen es que Debby es una asesina serial que busca hombres solteros y millonarios para matarlos y quedarse con su fortuna. Merlina es quien descubre sus verdaderos planes y Debby convence a Homero y Morticia de mandar a los chicos de campamento, a Chippewa y es donde lo mejor de la película comienza.
Chippewa is not at all a place that Wednesday and Pugsley identify with, yet they are "abandoned there" while Debby with her wiles ends up winning Fester who asks her to marry him. However, after the marriage everything changes. Debby and Feter move out of the Addams mansion and, manipulated by Debby, he stops having contact with his family to Gomez's indignation. The separation caused little Pubert to change his appearance, to a healthy one which for the Addam family means the opposite...
Chippewa no es para nada un lugar con el que Merlina y Pericles se sientan identificados, aún así son "abandonados ahí" mientras Debby con sus artimañas termina de conquistar a Lucas que le pide matrimonio. Sin embargo a raíz del casamiento todo cambia. Debby y Lucas se mudan de la mansión Addams y manipulado por Debby deja de tener contacto con su familia ante la indignación de Homero. La separación hizo que el pequeño Pubert cambiara de apariencia, a una saludable que para los los Addams significa todo lo contrario...
The only way for Pubert to return to "normal" is for Fester to be reunited with his family. Meanwhile at the camp, Gary (one of the camp guides) writes a play about Thanksgiving where Wednesday is chosen to be Pocahontas, Pugsley would be the turkey and the outcast children would be the Indians. Joel, Merlina and Pugsley refuse to participate so they are punished with a Disney movie marathon.
La única manera en la que Pubert vuelva a la "normalidad" es que Lucas vuelva a reunirse con su familia. Mientras tanto en el campamento, Gary (uno de los guías del campamento) escribe una obra sobre el día de acción de gracias donde Merlina es escogida para ser Pocahontas, Pericles el pavo y los niños marginados los indígenas. Joel, Merlina y Pericles se niegan a participar por lo que son castigados con una maratón de películas Disney.
The three children "agree to be in the play" only for Wednesday to rewrite the climax of the play and serve as a distraction and revenge for her and her brother to escape back home to rescue their uncle from Debby because, thanks to some serial killer cards, they discovered her true identity. For his part, Thing rescues Fester from Debby's madwoman who, after several failed assassination attempts on Fester, tries to shoot him.
Los tres niños "aceptan estar en la obra" solo para que Merlina reescribiera el clímax de esta y sirviera de distracción y venganza para que ella y su hermano lograran escapar de vuelta a su casa para rescatar a su tío de Debby pues gracias a unas tarjetas de asesinos seriales, descubrieron su verdadera identidad. Por su parte, Dedos rescata a Lucas de la loca de Debby quien tras varios intentos fallidos de asesinato contra Lucas, intenta dispararle.
Fester returns to the Addams mansion and after asking for forgiveness everyone is reunited, however, Debby doesn't give up and arrives at the mansion to kill them all and take the family fortune.
Lucas regresa a la mansión Addams y luego de pedir perdón todos se reúnen, sin embargo, Debby no se da por vecida y llegas a la mansión para matarlos a todos y quedarse con toda la fortuna familiar.
Debby forces them all to go down to the basement and sit on the electric chairs in the house (all as normal as if in any house in life, every member of the family had one). Before murdering them, Debby tells them her story as matter-of-factly as any psychopath and meanwhile Pubert escapes from his cot and goes down to the basement and rescues his family by turning Debby into ashes.
Debby los obliga a todos a bajar al sótano y sentarse en las sillas eléctricas de la casa (todo tan normal como si en cualquier casa en la vida, cada miembro de la familia tuviese una). Antes de asesinarlos, Debby les cuenta su historia con mucha naturalidad como cualquier psicópata y mientras tanto Pubert escapa de su cuna y va hasta el sótano y rescata a su familia convirtiendo a Debby en cenizas.
The film concludes with the Addams family happily celebrating Pubert's first birthday, where Lucas finds love in the nanny of Cousin Itt, son.
La película concluye con la familia Addams felices celebrando el primer cumpleaños de Pubert, donde Lucas consiguió el amor en la niñera del hijo del tío cosa.
I have to say that I like the performances in this and the previous film better even than in the original series. My favourite character, Wednesday, is played perfectly by Christina Ricci and I think the best scenes are between her character and Gomez Addams.
Debo decir que las actuaciones de ésta y la anterior película me gustan más que la serie original. Mi personaje preferido, Merlina, es interpretado perfectamente por Christina Ricci, y creo que las mejores escenas las tiene su personaje y Homero Addams.
The number of absurd situations is what characterises the black humour of the film and what makes it so funny. Seeing people's reactions to the quirky family adds to the humour and makes you remember their best scenes. Despite not being a box office success, I consider it to be the best of the Addams Family films and in fact it was nominated for an Oscar for its art direction. Here are some of my favourite scenes in conclusion.
La cantidad de situaciones absurdas es lo que caracteriza el humor negro de la película y lo que la hace tan graciosa. Ver las reacciones que tiene la gente ante la peculiar familia le suma humor y hace que puedas recordar sus mejores escenas. Pese a no ser un éxito en taquillas, la considero la mejor películas de los Locos Addams y de hecho fue nominada a los premios Oscars por su dirección artística. A continuación y para concluir dejaré algunas de mis escenas preferidas.
