Hello, internet people! How are you? Today I'd like to tell you about Lupin, a high quality French tv show (this was to be expected) directed by Marcela Said, Ludovic Bernard and Louis Leterrier, and starring mainly Omar Sy. Read on to find out more about the show.

Assane Diop is the son of an immigrant from Senegal who came to France seeking better opportunities for his only son. He's employed by the influential Pellegrini family as a chauffeur and shortly after is framed by Hubert Pellegrini for the theft of an expensive diamond necklace and sentenced to prison, shortly after Babakar hangs himself in his cell and 25 years later, Assane (who doesn't believe that his father was a thief), swears revenge on the Pellegrini family and based on the famous books of Arsène Lupin, the gentleman thief, written by Maurice Leblanc and which were a gift from his father, he commits all kinds of thefts to get closer to the truth and expose the crimes of Pellegrini, especially the incrimination of his father.)
Assane Diop es hijo de un inmigrante de Senegal que llegó a Francia buscando mejores oportunidades para su único hijo. Es empleado por la influyente familia Pellegrini como chofer y poco después es inculpado por Hubert Pellegrini por el robo de un costoso collar de diamantes y es sentenciado a prisión. Poco después, Babakar se ahorca en su celda y 25 años después, Assane (a quién no le parece cierta la historia sobre el robo del collar), jura venganza a los Pellegrini y basándose en los famosos libros de Arsène Lupin, el caballero ladrón, escritos por Maurice Leblanc y que fueron regalo de su padre, comete robos de todo tipo para acercarse a la verdad y exponer los crímenes de Pellegrini, sobre todo, la incriminación de su padre.
The story is interesting from the start and is also composed of a very good combination of scenes from the present (most of them, of course) and also flashback scenes that serve the purpose of showing the viewer the basis of the present, i.e. with each flashback scene, we can better understand what the present wants to tell us and the origen of what develops, and also contributes to the development of the characters.
La historia es atrapante desde un inicio y además, está compuesta por una combinación muy buena de escenas del presente (la mayoría, claro está) y también escenas flash back que cumplen el objetivo de mostrarle al espectador las bases del presente, es decir, que con cada escena flash back, podemos comprender mejor lo que el presente nos quiere contar y el origen de lo que se desarrolla, además también contribuye con el desarrollo de los personajes.
The way the series begins is what I like the most, as we are not told exactly who Assane is (and if you haven't seen the synopsis, as in my case, the effect is stronger) we are exposed to three facets of him at once, that of a cleaning worker at the Louvre, a father worried about his son's maintenance and a guy who owes money to three others. Later we are shown as a multi-millionaire who plans to go to a Parisian high society auction, only to gradually realise that his role as a father is the only real one because like Lupin, Assane is a master of disguise, so that by the end of the first episode the impact of his being a white-collar thief has much more impact.
La forma en la que comienza la serie es lo que más me gusta ya que no nos explican exactamente quién es Assane (y si no has visto la sinopsis, como en mi caso, el efecto es más fuerte) nos exponen a la vez tres facetas suyas, la de un trabajador de limpieza del Louvre, un padre preocupado por la manutención de su hijo y un tipo que le debe dinero a otros tres. Posteriormente se nos muestra como un multimillonario que piensa ir a una subasta de la alta sociedad parisina, para poco a poco darnos cuenta de que su rol de padre es el único real debido a que como Lupin, Assane es un amo del disfraz, es así como al final del primer episodio el impacto de que sea un ladrón de guante blanco tiene mucho más impacto.
The photography is beautiful, full of well-kept shots that expose the beauty of Paris, as well as famous locations such as the Seine and the Louvre. The colour palette is amazing and has a good balance so it doesn't become monotonous.
La fotografía es hermosa, llena de planos muy bien cuidados y que exponen la belleza de París, además tenemos locaciones muy famosas como el Sena o el Louvre. La paleta de colores es asombrosa y tiene un buen equilibro para no hacerse monótona.
The soundtrack is incredible, worthy of being in a Sherlock Holmes film, but how could it not be? the show is based on Lupin and he is like Holmes' counterpart... an ode to two great legends of the Victorian era (so to speak, since it is French).
La banda sonora es increíble, digna de estar en una película de Sherlock Holmes pero ¿cómo no iba a ser así? si la serie se basa en Lupin y éste es como la contraparte de Holmes... una oda a dos grandes leyendas de la época victoriana (por decirlo de alguna manera, ya que es francés)
The performances deserve a rating of 10, I think there is no actor who is left behind and I must say that the one who takes the top prize is Omar Sy, and it is not only for being the main protagonist (I have seen protagonists with whom I wonder who did them the favour of putting them there) but because he has the charisma necessary for his character to be the contemporary part of Arsène Lupin, which is not easy, not at all, and even less so for a fictional character, since all of us who write know that our characters have those special touches that are unlikely to come to reality with such success, especially in crime novels.
Las actuaciones son de 10, creo que no hay actor que se quede atrás y debo decir que quien se lleva el premio mayor es Omar Sy, y no es solo por ser el protagonista principal (he visto protagonistas con los cuales me pregunto quien les hizo el favor de ponerlos ahí) sino porque tiene el carisma necesario para que su personaje sea la parte contemporánea de Arsène Lupin, cosa que no es sencilla, en lo absoluto y mucho menos tratándose de un personaje de ficción ya que todos los que escribimos sabemos que nuestros personajes tienen esos toques especiales que es poco probable que lleguen a la realidad con tanto acierto, sobre todo en novelas policiacas.
It's a highly recommended show and if I'm not mistaken it is about to have its third part. For now it has two parts, each with 5 episodes of about an hour long, but due to its plot and episodes with a good story, it goes by quite quickly.
Es una serie altamente recomendada y que si no me equivoco está próxima su tercera parte. Por ahora cuenta con dos partes, cada una con 5 episodios de aproximadamente una hora de duración, pero que debido a su trama y episodios con una buena historia, se pasa bastante rápido.
