Hello to everyone in the community! Today I will dedicate this article to talk about some of the reasons why you should give a chance to the longest running drama series (a few years on the air) , it is Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. I'm sure at some point you've heard of it or have had an eye on an episode, so if you've been wanting to watch it for a while, here's your chance to get to know a little about it before getting into its many seasons.
Law & Order responds to a franchise that has been dedicated to bring different titles related to various areas of crime, so far about seven in total: Special Victims Unit, LA, Organized Crime Unit, Criminal Intent, True Crimes, Trial Jury and of course, the one that started it all in 1990, Law & Order. SVU is set in New York City, in the 16th district where we witness how the detectives of the place try to solve crimes of a sexual nature. The characters Elliot, Olivia, Monch, Cassidy and Monique, under the command of Captain Donald Cragen, are involved.

El día de hoy dedicaré este artículo para hablar sobre algunas de las razones por las cuales deberías darle una oportunidad a la serie de drama de más larga duración (unos cuantos años al aire) , se trata de La Ley y el Orden: Unidad de Víctimas Especiales. Estoy segura que en algún momento habrán oído hablar de ella o le habrán echado un ojo a algún episodio, así que sí ya tenías un tiempo queriendo verla, está es tu oportunidad para conocer un poco sobre ella antes de adentrarse en sus numerosas temporadas ¡Comencemos!
La Ley y el Orden responde a una franquicia que se ha dedicado a traer distintos títulos relacionados a varias áreas del crimen, hasta el momento unos siete en total: La Unidad de Víctimas Especiales, LA, Unidad de Crimen Organizado, Intento Criminal, Crímenes Reales, Trial Jury y por supuesto, la que dió inicio a todo en 1990, La Ley y el Orden. La UVE está ambientada en la Ciudad de Nueva York, en el distrito 16 dónde presenciamos cómo los detectives del lugar intentan resolver delitos de índole sexual. En ellos participan los personajes Elliot, Olivia, Monch, Cassidy y Monique al mando del capitán Donald Cragen.
Simple plot, complex episodes: if there is one thing I appreciate in a TV series is that as the episodes progress, the level of quality is better than the previous one. The first episodes may make a certain impression but they have such an evolution that does not allow us a space to feel comfortable and calm. The problems are getting bigger and bigger. The constant tension that follows episode after episode only makes you want more and more about it. And even at a certain point, if you get lost at some point, you will lose the thread of the story because of how fast everything is moving forward. So, if you want to see something that will keep you on your toes, here it is.
Trama sencilla, episodios complejos: si hay algo que agradezco en una serie de televisión es que conforme se avanza en los episodios, el nivel de calidad sea mejor que el anterior. Los primeros episodios pueden causar cierta impresión pero tienen una evolución tal que no nos permite un espacio para sentirnos cómodos y tranquilos. Los problemas son cada vez mayores. La constante tensión que sigue episodio tras episodio solo hace que quieras más y más sobre ello. Y hasta en cierto punto, si te pierdes en algún momento, perderás el hilo de la historia por lo rápido que avanza todo. Así que, si quieres ver algo que te mantenga en vela, aquí lo tienes.
Well-balanced characters: It's enough to watch the first season to understand that it's not only about solving a problem (no isolated episodes) but how little by little these same problems begin to subdue the detectives. That kind of reality in a drama series that focuses on such perverse crimes, leaves no one indifferent. Where the characters are not impenetrable and indestructible heroes but are vulnerable and can even be corruptible. That makes us empathize with the detectives and the victims because they all want to reach an end; solve the case and let justice act. Even if they don't always come out well.
Personajes bien equilibrados: Basta con ver la primera temporada para entender que no solo se trata sobre la resolución de un problema (nada de episodios aislados) sino como poco a poco estos mismos problemas empiezan a someter a los detectives. Ese tipo de realidad en una serie de drama que se centra crímenes tan perversos, no deja indiferente a ninguno. Dónde los personajes no son unos héroes impenetrables e indestructibles sino que son vulnerables y hasta pueden ser corrompibles. Eso hace que empaticemos con los detectives y las víctimas pues todos quieren llegar a un fin; resolver el caso y dejar que la justicia actúe. Aunque no siempre salgan bien parados.
Not suitable for all audiences: if there is something we all agree on (or the vast majority) is that crimes of a sexual nature are inadmissible. Especially if we are talking about cases involving minors. That is why it is impossible not to be moved by the hard stories that episode after episode we witness. In some of them we feel happiness when the criminals pay but that is rarely the case. So for me, SVU stands out within the franchise for having the courage to tackle such complex issues in such an organic, non-morbid and objective way. It's simply a pretty clean piece of filmmaking.
No apto para todo público: si hay algo en lo que todos concordamos (o la gran mayoría) es que los crímenes de índole sexual son inadmisibles. Sobre todo si hablamos sobre casos que involucran a menores de edad. Por ello es imposible no sentirse conmovido con las historias tan duras que episodio tras episodio presenciamos. En algunos de ellos sentimos felicidad cuando los criminales pagan pero eso pocas veces suele ser así. Así que para mí, la UVE destaca dentro de la franquicia por tener la valentía de abordar temas tan complejos de una forma tan orgánica, nada morbosa y objetiva. Sencillamente es un trabajo cinematográfico bastante limpio.
Finally friends, I would like to highlight a few more things like the excellent performance of the cast, the script behind each episode and of course, the determination to last so many years on the air and still keep thousands of people awake.
