Esta semana escogí un musical de dibujos animados ¡Me encantó! Siempre me maravillan los detalles que los artistas logran plasmar para darle gestos tan humanos y llenar de personalidad a cada personaje, así como esos elementos de la cultura que definen un contexto y te envuelven en una trama de fantasías y realidades.

La película que comento hoy es Vivo, ya les hablaré de él, primero, algunos detalles que recogen la cultura. La película se encuentra enmarcada en ese mundo cubano de las calles llenas de colores tropicales, alegres y frescos, con mujeres de amplias caderas y cinturas finas que parecen que inspiran sonidos exhalando ritmo y sabor. Los carros de los años 50 junto a paneos que muestran lugares emblemáticos que dan la sensación de paralización del tiempo: un presente anclado en el pasado que no se puede soltar y un presente mirando el futuro en otro lugar.

¿La musical? Una variedad para deleitarse: balada pop con fusión de rumba latina, soul, mambo, hip-hop,todos salpicados con ritmos latinos que hacen de la película un grato momento para disfrutar en familia.

De la dirección, el elenco y la trama

VIVO es el protagonista. Un kinkajou que, aunque parece un monito con aires de zariguella (rabipelado), no pertenece a ninguna de estas dos especies, el kinkajou es poco conocido, es familia de los mapaches y se puede encontrar a lo largo de la franja México- Brasil.

El que nos presentan en la película, Vivo, ama la música, Lin Manuel Miranda es la voz y el creador de todas las canciones que se interpretan en la película. Vivo es criado por Andrés (Juan de Marcos González del recordado Buena Vista Social Club). Andrés y vivo forman una pareja que cada tarde hacen una presentación en la plaza para propios y turistas, son compañeros, amigos y han pasado una larga vida juntos. Llega una carta de un viejo y único amor de Andrés, Marta, una cantante (la bella voz de Gloria Estefan) , quien logró desarrollar su carrera musical en Miami , obteniendo grandes éxitos.

En la carta Marta le pide a Andrés que la acompañe en su última presentación. Andrés no puede ir pero le cuenta a Vivo que nunca le dijo que la amaba y que cuando ella dejó la Habana, el le escribió una canción diciéndole lo que sentía por ella. Para Vivo, entregar esa canción, se convierte en su gran misión.

Para lograrlo, Vivo, se ve en la “necesidad” de establecer una relación con Gaby (Ynairaly Simo), una sobrina-nieta de Andrés que tiene 10 años. Una niña precoz, rebelde, ocurrente y atrevida, que no toma muy en serio a su mamá, Rosa, (Zoe Saldana), además esta convencida que heredó las cualidades musicales de la familia, idea que Vivo no comparte.

Cuando Gaby se entera de la misión de Vivo se compromete ayudarlo para que entregue la carta, allí comienzan una serie de aventuras donde se cuidan uno al otro, naciendo el respeto y la valoración mutua.

Vivo es una película para disfrutar en familia que no solamente entretiene sino que contiene unos mensajes que resaltan los valores de la amistad, el compañerismo, el amor, la persistencia y el ser autentico.

Con el personaje de Gaby casi traspasa el límite de lo “aceptado” acercándose a antivalores que, hacia el final de la película, van encontrando su explicación más no su justificación. El mensaje es claro, fuerte y directo a los padres sobre la importancia de la comunicación con los hijos, escucharlos y prestarles atención.

Por otra parte la película nos da una mirada profunda sobre el duelo: la perplejidad, el vacío, las emociones encontradas y en general el modo en que cada quien lo percibe. Es un tema que sensibiliza una parte nuestra y que confronta a los más pequeños a realidades para las cuales, en ocasiones, no sabemos abordar o no tenemos respuestas.

Muchos nos preguntamos si las producciones cinematográficas para niños deben abordar este tema, digamos que siempre ha estado presente a lo largo de la historia del cine: Bambi, El Rey León, Coco, Soul, Spiderman, Batman... nos han confrontado con la pérdida de los seres que amamos.

Pienso que es una cuestión de enfoque, en todo caso, cada película que aborda el tema se convierten en un material didáctico para que los niños vayan comprendiendo este proceso natural de todo lo que está vivo. En Vivo hay de todo un poco es un carrusel de emociones.

About the direction, the cast and the plot

A screenplay by Quiara Alegria Hudes directed by Kirk DeMicco. VIVO is the main character. A kinkajou that, although it looks like a little monkey with the air of a zariguella, does not belong to either of these two species. The kinkajou is little known, it is a family of raccoons and can be found along the Mexico-Brazil strip.

It is a subject that sensitizes a part of us and that confronts the youngest children with realities for which, sometimes, we do not know how to deal with or do not have answers.

Many of us wonder if children's film productions should address this issue, let's say that it has always been present throughout the history of cinema: Bambi, The Lion King, Coco, Soul, Spiderman, Batman... have confronted us with the loss of the ones we love.

I think it is a question of approach, in any case, every film that deals with the subject becomes a didactic material for children to understand this natural process of everything that is alive. In Vivo, there's a little bit of everything, it's a carousel of emotions.
