Vivo is a little kinkajou who is adopted by Andrés, a well-liked musician in Havana Cuba, Vivo also has a gift for music, which is why they constantly do shows together. One day Andrés receives a letter from Marta Sandoval, an old friend and musical partner, who had great fame and is doing a farewell tour and wants him to be present, they would have to travel to Miami, Andrés clearly accepts, since he wishes with all his heart to finally dedicate his love to Marta.

Vivo does not agree, since he does not want to leave Cuba, his life is happy there, just the two of them together (somewhat jealous, yes), they argue and unfortunately that night Andrés dies (these are the first 10 minutes of the film , I try not to give them spoilers), Vivo now feels like he has the mission of delivering the song to Marta, so he sneaks out with Gabi, a girl whose family is a bit distant from Andrés.

Gabi is an outgoing girl, who also lost her father, she is a music lover but with very little talent, a bit strange and quite restless, so for Viví it is almost a punishment to be with her, the idea was just to get to Miami and then to continue on his own, but Gabi joins his plan and tries to help him. She feels very lonely, misunderstood, she tries to fill the void that her father left her.

The film is very beautiful, the first time I saw it, I cried, Andrés's death caught me off guard, although later I thought "it's very obvious" but I saw it as soon as it was released and I didn't bother to see any trailer or anything.

I love Vivo's character, the music is very good and quite catchy, my favorite is the first one, in the part where Vivo sings and introduces himself, he loved that song. Despite the fact that Vivo can hardly stand Gabi at first, he ends up forging a beautiful friendship, the two help each other and understand his pain. But I understand Vivo, Gabi was quite unbearable, sometimes she even gives you a little stress, until you understand the background of all this and why she is like that.

It is quite a colorful movie, with a quite simple plot but with a nice message, the animation is very good, in the musical parts it changes to the animation style and this makes it even more striking. It is a film that adapts for all audiences, not just for children.

The only thing I feel that it lacked was more focus on Cuba, that is, I feel that although it is a Cuban musical, most of the film is in Miami, it is like "we are going to be a Cuban film but in Miami", otherwise a beautiful movie in every way ✨

Hello my Movies and TV Shows people. Honestly I don't know why I ended up watching this movie, because after "Zombie Station" I don't think I will be able to see another one of the same genre better than that one, although I have seen good reviews of "kingdom" that I am looking forward to see it, because I can tell it is something different too. But without further detours, I'm talking about the movie VIVO, a Korean story of a zombie invasion in the 21st century.

    Mi opinión

    My opinion

I express myself in this way, because I decided to watch this film since the cast included my favorite actress Park Shin-hye, who I have liked a lot for her performance in many Korean series that I have already seen, so I thought that this story had to have something good in it.

    ZOMBIE 3.jpg

    Imagen

The story does not have many exciting jumps, not to mention that more than half of the film the protagonists are hidden each one in his apartment, what I might have liked, was the idea of imagining a Zombie attack inside an apartment, because possibly you would feel somehow safe, which here is not so much so, besides how desperate it can be to run out of supplies for not listening to your mom.

    mini hive.jpg

In this case I'm talking about the protagonist, a young man immersed in the world of video games, who does not feel comfortable without the possibility of accessing the internet, since his only distraction was the virtual world of online video games, in addition to recording videos as a gamer influencer.

    ZOMBIE 1.jpg

    Imagen

Personally, the performances were well executed for the poor script that the film had, and I say poor because it is not until almost the end that the two protagonists end up having a real dialogue, which leaves the rest of the story as a long monologue between the same young man, since his young age and his little experience in the real world, made him feel very vulnerable since his world was the virtual one.

    ZOMBIE 2.jpg

    Imagen

Somehow the director wanted to show us how immersed we are in the technological world and how we would feel at a time when we are without internet connection, which is something that we will feel within the plot, because it goes without saying that the genre has already been exploited enough and do not present anything new or novel in the story, without denying the good special effects on the terrifying zombies at one time or another you get to hit your scare.

    Conclusión

    Conclusion

Let's look at it this way, two young kids in the current era trying to survive a zombie attack, without having much experience about life, what would you expect from something like that? So I really don't recommend it, you're not going to see anything new that maybe you haven't already seen, I still stick with "Zombie Invasion" and one of my first movies "Night of the Living Dead", as well as "Dawn of the Dead" and "The Walking Dead", so far they have been my favorite zombie movies.

  3. [Esp/Eng]Vivo fanart + Opinion@dryad-druid191776d

Hello to everyone in this community. Today I bring you my opinion, about Sony's most recent new animated film, directed by Kirk DeMicco, Brandom jeffords, and distributed by Netflix: Vivo.

The film is about the journey of Vivo, a kinkaju who, in order to deliver a song to the former love of his best friend, must travel to Miami accompanied by the latter's great-niece.

    Trama/Plot

The plot of the film is nothing special, the story of a protagonist who is forced to go from point A to point B accompanied by a character with whom he does not get along, but in the end they become friends is something that has been seen many times before, but at least the film does it well and is entertaining.

    Animacion/Animation

It's good, it's not disney or pixar level, but it's a good very good animation considering the current standards, and the character design is something that I also liked a lot.

    Musica/Music

Without a doubt, the highlight of the film. Lin Manuel-Miranda (voice of Vivo, as well as the composer and producer of this film) excelled, combining both modern and classic styles for music in this film, seriously, I don't think there is a single song I disliked. (Note: the best version is the English version)

In conclusion it is a children's movie that, thanks to its songs and its handling of the plot, even the older ones can see.

  4. Vivo review + will Chinese animations catch up with Hollywood soon?@herosik1778d

Over the past few months, my girlfriend and I watched a lot of animated movies on Netflix. It was a few projects co-produced by the Chinese ("Over the Moon", "Abominable"), the American nice and pleasant animation "The Mitchells vs. The Machines". The title I am writing about in this text was also partially created by Asians, but it is primarily a film by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation. Each of the above-mentioned productions is clearly from a lower league than Disney paintings and similar, but they are of a high enough level to enjoy the screening.

Review in polish language, but in short form - https://peakd.com/hive-134382/@herosik/vivo-mini-recenzja-i-moje-spostrzezenia-dotyczace-lepszych-i-gorszych-kreskowek

    vivo ENG.jpg

Before I go to the review, I will elaborate on the question I put in the title of the text. If you've lived in the world long enough, you've probably heard from your childhood that the Japanese (although this can also be extended to at least a few other Asian nations - e.g. Chinese or South Koreans) have great skills in developing technologies from the Western world and better use natural resources. You probably remember the times when you didn't buy equipment from China, because in most cases it was rubbish (which Doc said in some part of "Back to the Future"). Today, in the context of 5G technology and the rivalry between the US and China and the equipment offered by Chinese contractors, it sounds funny, but well ... It was 15, 20 years ago. I don't remember where I heard it, but as a child, in one of the interviews I watched on TV, a professor said - "You will see, in a dozen or so years, if the trend does not change, the Chinese will copy the equipment even better and then create their own brands," which will be cheaper than their western counterparts, and in terms of technology, we won't see much of a difference. " I do not know how it is now, because I am weak when it comes to knowledge of technical innovations, but you do not need to be an expert to see that both powers compete with each other in at least some fields.

    vi00.webp

The fact is, if we take into account all the technology - from small things like smartphones to high-tech, America is probably definitely better, but no one knows what will be in a dozen or so years. Especially since Joe Biden rules the US. Not that I am a fan of Donald Trump, but the undeniable fact is that he improved the economic situation of all the people working in the US (white, Latin, black and the rest) and restored some factories in Europe and Asia - I know this, among others from a friend who has been working in Germany for many years designing cars. The Democrats themselves were reluctant to say this, but thanked Trump because some of his decisions made the US invest more effectively in technology.

    vi0.jpg

However, this is not a text about the USA, but about China. Before I return to it, however, a few more words about Japan. When I studied political science, one of my subjects was lectures on International Relations. We had few classes with Dr. Zbigniew Emperor, but this man is so fantastically charismatic and educated that everyone attended his lectures - even those who were reluctant to study and only wanted to prolong their childhood by studying. During one lecture, he told us about China and Japan, I don't remember most of the content, but I remember one thing, which perfectly illustrates their approach. They used every bit of the raw material, even the gunpowder that was left over from the use of carbon, cobalt, silicon, and more. Americans and Europeans, in turn, used only ore or larger pieces of them, throwing the smaller ones into the garbage. About a decade ago, when I became seriously interested in politics, geopolitics and related topics, I saw a documentary showing Japanese specialists who came to China to educate them. Nothing new, the same was the case with Poland, when we regained Khem khem "independence" in 1989 - our politicians got an invitation from the Japanese to see how factories work and are built and how workers are managed.

    vi1.jpg

A few years ago, Japan signed another agreement of this type with China, which mainly concerned trade and economic issues, but also included, inter alia, exchange of experiences, specialists, generally strengthening cooperation. Now I am not able to find this link and no, I do not mean the November 15, 2020 agreement, the one I am talking about was only for China and Japan. Despite numerous territorial and historical disputes (the Japanese treated the Chinese as shit - they carried out a cruel slaughter on them during the Second World War, probably even worse than the Germans did on Poles, Jews, Roma), they beautifully show that such things are much less important when it's about money and the pursuit of common interests.

    vi2.jpg

    vi3.jpg

Developing earlier threads - yes, the Japanese and some Asians initially produced garbage, but quickly learned from their mistakes and invested capital in improving technology and people (to make them better specialists). By carefully observing the Americans and avoiding (at least some) the mistakes they have made. While the Japanese are reasonably ethical to their work and do not support (or at least not directly) patent theft, the Chinese ignore it and copy everything that goes on. The same applies to culture. As I mentioned during the review of "Scissors Seven", they love the cultural and sports achievements of the Western world. It manifests itself in watching basketball games, organizing weddings in places stylized as romantic scenes from "Titanic" and other films loved by women. Cartoons and games are also important - both from the USA and Japan. Watching Chinese animated films, I notice that they copy cliches known from Disney, Pixar, etc. but in better shape. The plot is less infantile, they try to throw more educational elements for young children into them.

    vi4.jpg

Although I am critical of the Communist Party and their propaganda, which works more or less the same as that of the times when Eastern Europe was under the influence of Russia, I must admit that they are doing a good job on this particular point. Yes, the child should have a normal childhood, i.e. play, work or stress the lives of adults, because the time will come for that, but this does not mean that they cannot be passed on important values that will pay off in the future. I'm talking about supporting parents, doing simple jobs to earn your expenses (which, by the way, is a normal approach in the US or England), greater responsibility for yourself and your decisions. Sure, a lot of these things have appeared in Disney cartoons, but Americans are less emphasis on it. It also seems to me that the Chinese show it with practical examples that we see every day, and less in the form of a vague moral. Probably so that the message is not too overloaded. I see copying also in terms of animation, lines, etc. True, they are far from Disney, and it will be many years before they live up to them, but now you can watch their animated films without feeling embarrassed or wasting time. The characters are simpler, less detailed, there are fewer moving parts (figures in the background and third planes, cars and other vehicles etc.), the scenes are less glamorous, the backgrounds are less detailed, but they are better than some European countries, including Polish. It is true that the experience of our animators is not very impressive, but nevertheless Poles started to create fairy tales for children when the Chinese did not dream about it.

    vi5.jpg

To sum up, I do not know what it will be like in the future, but to paraphrase the professor I have already mentioned - if this trend continues, in a dozen or so years we may be playing Chinese cartoons for our children or grandchildren. The more likely it is that Disney, after a golden period for itself, is making more and more mistakes, and it does not seem to change. Which, of course, I do not exclude, because it may only be a temporary decline in their form. And now I invite you to the review.

The plot of "Vivo" tells the story of a retired street musician who, together with his monkey named Vivo, amuse the local people of Havana. Andrés used to sing in a duet with the famous singer Marta Sandoval, with whom he was in love, but never said how he felt about her. After receiving an invitation from her to a farewell concert, he decided to travel to America to accompany her in her final performance. It was unfortunate that he did not make it, because he died before flying to the USA. Vivo the monkey, together with Andrés' niece, decide to fulfill the musician's last will and try to deliver a letter expressing his feelings towards Marta. Before they achieve this goal, an adventure awaits them full of various funny and dramatic moments.

    vi6.jpg

I mentioned in the introduction that the technical side of this movie is weaker than in Disney productions. In the past, I would have viewed it as a disadvantage, and today I see it as an advantage. Why? Because the budget is lower, and hence the expectations of the producers are much lower and allow for more experiments that would not pass in the case of a corporation with Mickey Mouse. I do not want to sound like a bitter complain who simplifies reality and thinks that in the past everything was better (in some cases yes, but mostly it is an attempt to rationalize why we don't like something anymore), but the most universal and flattened message from Disney movies it is less noticeable when the fairy tale has been better directed and planned. Like "Alladin", "The Lion King", "The Hunchback of Notre Dam" and some others. Some of their films are infantile, talk about truisms or make the topic too shallow. Pixar, on the other hand, has always created less infantile productions that are more food for thought (or at least this view stuck to me several years ago, when I was a child - thanks to my father who often took me to the cinema or to reviewers whom I started reading at a young age. Perhaps I am wrong, if you know each other better about Disney and Pixar films, I am asking for correction) and they treat little children a bit more seriously than Disney employees.

Going back to the beginning of the previous paragraph - studies from the second league must try to gain the attention of the audience in a slightly different way. They do not have the same level of opinion as Disney's works (i.e. the level of their production may vary, but you can always easily take a child to the cinema, who will get a dose of colorful and eye-catching action. , they want the cleanest opinion possible), so their animations are not chosen as the default destination by parents. They are usually treated as 2nd or 3rd choice. For this reason, they must, for example, use non-standard animation, come up with a plot and setting that deviates from the usual patterns, generally something that the competition offers less often, to catch the attention of customers. I appreciate it very much, because there are fewer cliché solutions, which makes me less bored and more visual, but I have to be honest. During the screening, you can see that they are less detailed, the quality of CGI, animation and lines is weaker, and the final touch is missing. If I don't complain about Disney, I can't deny them that their animated films are more polished - both in terms of script and technical implementation. Me and Asia agreed that something "Vivo" was missing. However, as I said, it didn't bother me that much, because I value originality more.

When it comes to music, while I don't like animations with more emphasis on songs, I liked Vivo a lot more than most Disney productions. I am talking about both the Polish and the original version. In fact, it's not an outstanding production of this type (in the sense we don't have great songs or top league musicians or singers), but the songs didn't bother me. Usually at such moments I reach for the phone or when I was young and did not have a cell phone, I got tired of waiting for these "normal" fragments. Here I did not feel such a need, I even enjoyed watching every such fragment. And there are quite a few of these, after all, it's a film about music. The beats and lyrics were pleasing to the ear, as was the rhythm of the songs - be it for music typical of this region of the world or for more universal genres.

All in all, neither me nor my girlfriend complained. I had a lot of fun, Asia a little less, but she didn't complain too much. I think you can safely watch it both alone and with your children, or turn it on to the children you care for. "Vivo" doesn't last long, so you shouldn't waste your time, I think you will be satisfied with the solidly written and realized animation. I rate it as strong +7/10.

  5. Vivo (2021) review: An emotional rollercoaster.@richardalexis1779d

    Source

The screenshots in this post were taken directly from the movie, Vivo is avaliable on Netflix Separador.png

Although I am not a fan of musicals - Generally - I can appreciate when things are done well within the genre, when they are used as an engine to tell exciting, funny and emotional stories, that is: they take full advantage of the format for offer.

    Captura de pantalla 2021-08-14 17.46.18.png

As a project that had a good number of years in the making, Vivo would originally be released in 2010 at the hands of Dreamworks, things got a bit complicated and we barely had it in 2021, produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures animation.

Born by a pitch by Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed by Kirk DeMicco and Brandon Jeffords En Vivo we follow the story of a Cuban Kikanjú who must travel to Miami to fulfill the dream of his old friend who has just passed away, “Vivo”, the Kikanjú, was dedicated to singing through the streets of Cuba with Juan de Marcos González, which is used brilliantly to bring to the film several musical numbers that stand out for their Cuban flavor with a slightly pop touch to satisfy the most international tastes.

    Captura de pantalla 2021-08-14 17.46.06.png

The first portion of the film stands out precisely for this, although animation is nothing to write home about, it is such a “Latin” nature of its own setting that it moves not only to the visual but also to the auditory it manages to capture our full attention, the film it is very well measured and presents Cuba in a correct way, at least in aesthetic and cultural terms (without going into discussing political aspects).

Of course, everything does not take hold until Juan, the person in charge of taking care of Vivo, dies of natural causes, without ever having the opportunity to meet Marta (Played by none other than Gloria Estefan), beginning the real movie conflict.

    Captura de pantalla 2021-08-14 17.46.39.png

Without going too far with the details -because it is a movie that deserves to be seen-, it is surprising how in such a short time we managed to empathize with the desires of its characters, from the most fleeting to the most stable.

With nothing to envy to works by Pixar or Dreamworks (which are already experts in the emotional area), Vivo is optimistic but tough, making the results effective but moving.

    Captura de pantalla 2021-08-14 17.46.25.png

Each musical number exudes personality and contributes to the narrative, they do not feel forced but organic, they are very tied to the plot and they are extremely catchy.

On the downside: I wish I had spent a little more time in Cuba and less in Miami, although the plot warrants it, one of these places is definitely more attractive than the other.

    Captura de pantalla 2021-08-14 17.35.13.png

In short, Vivo is a very tender film, with sad moments and other very funny ones, it explores dense themes such as the loss of our loved ones and the eternal search for love, but everything is done with great tact and delicacy.

Not only is it suitable for everyone, but I totally recommend it.

The movie is very nice and is an entertaining animated musical, although I am not a big fan of musicals I liked this movie a lot, not only because the music is nice but they are not just songs in a movie, the songs have an emotional weight and add weight to the story because everything revolves around it.

Although this movie does not have a very complex plot, it makes it quite easy to watch, at no time I was bored, it is also not a long movie, it lasts less than 2 hours, I also consider it a very nice movie to watch with the family, I think it is much better enjoyed in my opinion, or at least that was my case.

It is no secret that Sony Animation has been standing out with their animated films, if they continue on this path they are going to be strong competitors in the world of animation, Vivo may not be a masterpiece but it gives us what it promises, it is one of those movies that goes beyond just being a musical with one or another joke, it has a good balance of feelings and beautiful messages that make us reflect.

I always say that one of the best feelings is to see a movie without any kind of expectation and be surprised, it is a very nice feeling and this is the case, I saw it without even seeing the trailer and I was surprised. I recommend it, especially to watch it in a family environment.

  7. #Vivo | Review | Horror Movie | (ENG ) (ESP)@kruznik71826d

    image.png

South Korean cinema is in fashion more than ever thanks to titles like Parasite and Oldboy that are among my favorites. This time we will have the opportunity to relax (Yes, relax) with a horror title that has no pretense other than to entertain those of us who are used to the genre.

The story is very simple and flat. It is about a YouTuber who soon realizes that there is an epidemic that transforms people into zombies (despite the fact that this word is not mentioned in the film) and from that moment the action begins bluntly. Zombies here and there stalk the young man who remains isolated in his house.

The interesting thing about this film is that it was recorded at the time when the pandemic was at its peak, in 2020. Unfortunately, I didn't see it at that time because I'm sure that I would have been more interested in it since the similarities what was experienced in deep isolation are seen in the film. Loneliness and longing for our loved ones can be seen in a scene where the YouTuber hallucinates by extreme loneliness.

Another interesting aspect is the use of technology to develop part of the plot. As we well know, part of South Korean life is tied to technology, being one of the most important industries in that niche with Japan.

We can see each historical situation reflected in art and this is no exception. I'm sure there will be books, comics and other movies based on the pandemic and what we all experience at that time.

The film beyond that is an action play, in the purest World War Z style with which it bears many similarities. It is not a film that aspires to transcend but to entertain. There are a few scenes that can cause us a slight tension and others with a touch of hackneyed drama that we have seen thousands of times.

In fact, I do not blame this movie for being hackneyed, the zombie genre has been so exploited since its inception in the twentieth century that it would be very difficult to create something original and innovative therefore the only thing this genre can offer us is fleeting entertainment.

Sitting on our couch and watching two guys kill hundreds of zombies is entertaining just as it is playing a game like Left 4 Dead, it's fun but not enough for more. It's not something that will leave you a message, or something that will transcend as a cult movie or anything like that. Only zombie action cinema with touches of horror that in my opinion border on comedy.

The good thing about this film is that it is unpretentious, the film recognizes by itself that its objective is to entertain. Spend a while while you eat some popcorn and see the screen full of blood and thousands of crazy infected running.

It should be noted that these zombies are agile, even capable of climbing a building. I recall that the first time I saw zombies that were running and they weren't your typical slow and stupid version was in 40 days at night, but they have probably appeared before.

Although it is not a film that had high claims, it was received very well by viewers and critics, Rotten tomatoes gives it a score of 88% and I think it is because it was a film released with the right theme and at the right time . The pandemic was starting at that time and these marketing geniuses knew how to take advantage of the situation.

In general terms I don't consider this work as bad but as something that we have already seen thousands of times but with Asian people. Perhaps the detail of the insulation is a point in favor of the scarce originality that this film may have but it does not go any further. It is an enjoyable movie to pass the time and then move on with our lives.

I would like to know your opinion if you have already seen this movie, leave it in the comments.
