Hablaré hoy de una serie norteamericana que he venido viendo en estos meses y que sinceramente no había tenido la oportunidad de poder verla planamente. Padre de familia es una serie sin discusión para adolescentes y adultos. La misma fue creada a finales de los 90s. La serie animada nos presenta una familia bastante disfuncional compuesta por los padres; Peter y Lois, sus hijos Meg, Chris, y Stewie. Y un perro antropomorfo llamado Brian. La serie animada cuenta con un humor bastante negro, típico de los americanos. Muchos creen que su satírico humor hacia la sociedad estadounidense es bastante extremista e involucrando muchos temas como, por ejemplo, la religión, la raza, la sexualidad entre otros aspectos de la vida cotidiana de una familia. Por supuesto, hay muchos quienes se han logrado sentir ofendidos por el oscuro humor de Padre de familia.
Today I will talk about an American series that I have been watching in recent months and I honestly had not had the opportunity to watch it flat. Family Guy is an undisputed series for teenagers and adults. It was created in the late 90s. The animated series presents a dysfunctional family composed by the parents; Peter and Lois, their children Meg, Chris, and Stewie. And an anthropomorphic dog named Brian. The animated series features a rather black humor, typical of Americans. Many believe that its satirical humor towards American society is quite extremist and involves many issues such as religion, race, sexuality and other aspects of everyday family life. Of course, there are many who have managed to feel offended by the dark humor of Family Guy.
Debo decir que también me ha sorprendido mucho esta serie animada. Hay momentos donde me hace sentir incómodo pero entiendo perfectamente que es un estilo de comedia y aún a pesar de que no concuerdo con muchas de sus bromas, le he tomado bastante cariño. Un dato curioso es que este es un gran ejemplo de lo que se podía crear en los años anteriores en donde nadie se sentía ofendido como ahora en donde todo debe ser color de rosa para que pueda ser transmitido por las cadenas televisivas. Sí, Padre de familia es una gran y divertida serie animada siempre y cuando no seas de piel fina.
I must say that I have also been very surprised by this animated series. There are moments where it makes me feel uncomfortable but I understand perfectly well that it is a comedy style and even though I don't agree with many of its jokes, I have grown quite fond of it. A curious fact is that this is a great example of what could be created in previous years where no one felt offended as now where everything must be rosy so that it can be transmitted by television networks. Yes, Family Guy is a great and funny animated series as long as you are not thin skinned.
Desde el principio podemos empezar a notar sus sarcásticos chistes. Su opening es bastante sarcástico y definitivamente un gran complemento de la serie. Es una buena canción para una extraña familia. Muchos han comparado a Padre de familia con los Simpsons lo cual creo que es una absurda e innecesaria comparación. Sí, tal vez podemos ver muchas semejanzas en los personajes pero son dos familias totalmente diferentes. Sobre todo por el humor que nos presentan. En los Simpsons, aunque no lo aparenta, cuidaron muchos aspectos sobre todo para que sea una serie para cualquier edad y para no chocar con cualquiera otra serie animada. O sea, algo totalmente original. Recuerden que los Simpsons tienen al menos 10 años de ventaja antes de que apareciera Padre familia. Lo que quiero decir es que siempre vamos a encontrar semejanzas en diferentes series aún más cuando existe diferencia de tiempo entre ambas. Por ejemplo, es como comparar la serie de hechizada con mi Bella genio. Como dicen por ahí, lo bueno siempre se copia.
From the very beginning we can start to notice its sarcastic jokes. Its opening is quite sarcastic and definitely a great addition to the series. It's a good song for a strange family. Many have compared Family Guy to the Simpsons which I think is an absurd and unnecessary comparison. Yes, maybe we can see many similarities in the characters but they are two totally different families. Especially because of the humor they present us with. In the Simpsons, although it doesn't look like it, they took care of many aspects especially to make it a series for any age and not to clash with any other animated series. In other words, something totally original. Remember that the Simpsons were at least 10 years ahead before the appearance of Family Guy. What I mean is that we will always find similarities in different series even more when there is a time difference between them. For example, it's like comparing the bewitched series with my Bella genie. As they say, good things are always copied.
La familia que nos encontramos en la serie es un claro ejemplo de cómo no debemos hacer las cosas. Cada uno de ellos con una característica diferente y bastante volubles. En la serie, también encontramos amigos de la familia como por ejemplo, Joe (un policía paralítico) Glenn (conocido por su promiscuidad y su hipersexualidad) y otro que podemos nombrar es a Cleveland, quien es conocido por su exceptiva falta de modales. Los capítulos en su mayoría van dedicados a críticas sociales o tal vez a hacernos ver ciertos aspectos que antes eran bastantes criticados como algo normal de nuestro día día. Los capítulos pueden disfrutarse de manera individual, ya que no hay conexión alguna y eso también le da un punto extra.
The family we meet in the series is a clear example of how we should not do things. Each of them with a different characteristic and quite fickle. In the series, we also find family friends such as Joe (a paralyzed policeman) Glenn (known for his promiscuity and hypersexuality) and another that we can name is Cleveland, who is known for his exceptional lack of manners. The chapters are mostly dedicated to social criticism or perhaps to make us see certain aspects that were previously criticized as something normal in our daily lives. The chapters can be enjoyed individually, as there is no connection whatsoever and that also gives it an extra point.
En lo que a mí respecta, Padre de familia es una muy buena serie pero no la recomendaría como una serie necesaria dado que a mí parecer no es que aporten mucho a la sociedad, creo que está bastante buena para pasar un rato mientras comes de alguna merienda vespertina.
As far as I'm concerned, Family Guy is a very good series but I wouldn't recommend it as a necessary series since in my opinion it doesn't contribute much to society, I think it's pretty good to spend some time while eating an afternoon snack.
