Hello friends! I hope you are all feeling well. Today I bring you the review of a movie that I'm sure you are already sick of reading about it but well, now it's my turn to write about it. I'm talking about the Barbie movie.
Trama - Plot
La trama se desarrolla en Barbieland, que es la ciudad donde habitan todas las Barbies y los Kens, y en el mundo real, que es donde vivimos nosotros. En Barbieland las Barbies viven su propia realidad, cada día que pasa es uno perfecto, hasta que la Barbie estereotipa empieza a cuestionarse cosas que van a desencadenar un conjunto de catástrofes en su vida perfecta e impactará en toda Barbieland. Para solucionarlo debe partir hacía el mundo real a hablar con la niña que juega con ella, Ken decide acompañarla y ambos se embarcan en este viaje que les hará conocer una realidad diferente a la que estaban viviendo, pero sobre todo, aprenderán lo qué es ser un humano y sus complicadas emociones.
The plot takes place in Barbieland, which is the city where all the Barbies and Kens live, and in the real world, which is where we live. In Barbieland the Barbies live their own reality, every day that passes is a perfect one, until the stereotypical Barbie begins to question things that will trigger a set of catastrophes in her perfect life and will impact throughout Barbieland. To solve it, she must go to the real world to talk to the girl who plays with her, Ken decides to accompany her and both embark on this journey that will make them know a different reality to the one they were living, but above all, they will learn what it is to be a human being and their complicated emotions.
Reseña - Review
La película era lo que me imaginaba y a la vez no. A decir verdad, al principio no le di mucha atención a la filmación ni estaba al tanto de nada. Pero con todo el marketing que tuvo como que fue imposible ignorarla y al final termine subida en el tren de la locura rosa. Fue lo más genial ver tanta marea rosa, se vivió muy lindo, me hizo sentir parte de algo.
The film was what I imagined and at the same time it was not. To tell the truth, at first I didn't pay much attention to the filming and I wasn't aware of anything. But with all the marketing it had, it was impossible to ignore it and in the end I ended up getting on the pink craze train. It was the coolest thing to see so much pink tide, it was very nice, it made me feel part of something.
Lo que me gustó es que es simple, es absurda y te mata de la risa la mayoría del tiempo, pero también tiene connotaciones profundas que te dejan reflexionando y te hace cuestionarte cosas. Al mismo tiempo, tiene sus escenas emotivas que se dan desde la parte humana. Es por ello que creo que esta película, si bien aborda lo qué es ser mujer, también aborda lo qué es ser un humano con todas las complejidades que supone.
What I liked is that it is simple, it is absurd and kills you with laughter most of the time, but it also has deep connotations that leave you reflecting and makes you question things. At the same time, it has its emotional scenes that come from the human side. That's why I think this film, while addressing what it is to be a woman, also addresses what it is to be a human with all the complexities it entails.
Es como abrazar ser lo que sos, con tus imperfecciones y perfecciones. No fue que Barbie cambió, nosotras cambiamos y la muñeca se tuvo que ir adaptando a los nuevos requisitos. Ya dejó de ser el símbolo de la perfección y la belleza absoluta, ahora pasó a ser un símbolo que trata de estar en todas las realidades posibles.
It's like embracing being who you are, with your imperfections and perfections. It wasn't that Barbie changed, we changed and the doll had to adapt to the new requirements. She is no longer the symbol of perfection and absolute beauty, now she is a symbol that tries to be in all possible realities.
Me resultó interesante el contraste con el mundo real y el mundo de Barbieland porque sentí que en el mundo de Barbieland, obviamente todo gira en torno a la muñeca y Ken es solo su compañero, es como lo que solía pasar en el mundo real pero a la inversa. En vez de intentar encontrar un equilibrio en común, seguimos replicando la misma fórmula pero al revés. No es un cuestionamiento, sino algo que note. Sin embargo, me pareció genial que al final se le diera su espacio a Ken y pudiera entender que él es suficiente para sí mismo, que su existencia no depende de Barbie.
I found the contrast with the real world and the Barbieland world interesting because I felt that in the Barbieland world, obviously everything revolves around the doll and Ken is just her companion, it's like what used to happen in the real world but in reverse. Instead of trying to find a common balance, we keep replicating the same formula but in reverse. It's not a questioning, but something I notice. However, I thought it was great that in the end Ken was given his space and could understand that he is enough for himself, that his existence doesn't depend on Barbie.
La apuesta visual superó mis expectativas, es genial que replicarán el mundo de juguete de Barbie y la experiencia colectiva que tuvimos todos los que jugamos con muñecas alguna vez. Me trajo mucha nostalgia.
The visual bet exceeded my expectations, it's great that they replicated Barbie's toy world and the collective experience that all of us who played with dolls once had. It brought back a lot of nostalgia.
Al igual que me gustó que mostrarán la relación conflictiva entre una madre y su hija adolescente. Como verán es una película que aborda varios temas. A mí me encantó, y si bien el final me descolocó como le pasó a varios, terminé entendiendo el mensaje.
I also liked that they showed the conflictive relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter. As you can see, it is a film that addresses several issues. I loved it, and even though the ending threw me off, as it did many people, I ended up understanding the message.
Bueno amigos, seguro me quedaron dando vuelta algunas cosas que no les comenté, pero lo más importante que percibí está escrito aquí. Espero que les haya gustado y hayan podido disfrutar de esta película. Para los que no lo hicieron los invito a verla y sacar sus propias conclusiones.
