🎥 Silo 🎥

When it comes to apocalyptic events, we always want to know more; imagining a destroyed world—living underground, unable to breathe fresh air, gaze at the sky, or admire nature—is something we can barely fathom. Human beings are restless and curious by nature; we are not accustomed to stillness or isolation. While some might find comfort in it, for others, it could prove overwhelming or suffocating; thus, we feel compelled to investigate and find answers that help us understand the reasons behind things.

Silo is a science fiction series about a group of people living underground following an apocalyptic event. They shelter within a silo that houses the entire community, protecting themselves from a toxic and deadly outside world. At the same time, they are forced to forget their past; their memories were erased 140 years ago—the moment when books were burned and archives confiscated. Furthermore, possessing "relics" is strictly prohibited, and anyone who attempts to uncover the truth about the past faces exile.

At the start of the series, we meet the sheriff, a man tormented by the fact that he failed to listen to his wife years earlier, when she told him they were being deceived and that nothing they saw was real.

On top of all this, they are subject to strict birth control and the precariousness of relying on technology to survive. We follow Juliette Nichols, the chief engineer who maintains the silo's core; she sets out to uncover uncomfortable truths concealed by the authoritarian figures controlling the community.

This is where the concept of "what if what you believe is real is actually a massive lie" comes into play. As I mentioned earlier, we see a group of people determined to learn the truth and unearth the secrets surrounding the silo, all while facing off against those who want to keep that truth hidden.

I admit I’ve only watched two episodes of the first season so far, so these are just my initial impressions. However, the series is undoubtedly compelling and easy to watch—especially the premise of people confined in an isolated space, never seeing sunlight, and accustomed to living that way for over a century.

Would you get used to it, or would you eventually reach a point where you wanted to explore the outside world—even if it meant your death? Let me know in the comments 👇

Sometimes what's said is presented as truth; their memories have been erased, they think there's no life beyond that place. We have to look further, but I wouldn't risk my life.

I think they traded their safety with an eraser of their memory. So one has to choose survival or retaining his memory
