Welcome Hivers to this new post, this week in 7th Art & More, we will be talking about Fathers, since Sunday is celebrated Father's Day, at least here in Venezuela. So, today I want to share with you the summary of a great character, he is one of the main characters of The Croods movies, his name is Grug. Here I tell you a little more about him.
Bienvenidos Hivers a este nuevo post, esta semana en 7mo Arte & Más, estaremos hablando de Padres, ya que el domingo se celebra el Día del Padre, al menos aquí en Venezuela. Así que, el día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes el resumen de un gran personaje, es uno de los protagonistas de las películas The Croods, su nombre es Grug. Aquí te cuento un poco más de él.
Grug is a caveman, who lives with his wife, mother-in-law and children, until one day they meet Guy, a young orphan, who soon strikes up a relationship with his family. However, the boy's methods upset the adult, who seeks with all his might to protect and keep them safe.
Grug es un cavernícola, que vive junto a su esposa, su suegra y sus hijos, hasta que un día conocen a Guy, un joven huérfano, que pronto entabla una relación con su familia. Sin embargo, los métodos del chico hacen molestar al adulto, que busca con todas sus fuerzas proteger y mantenerlos a salvo.
During the first film, we see how he struggles to accept a new path, which takes him away from the caves that have always kept him safe. On the other hand, in the second part of this prehistoric adventure, we see how this man struggles to accept the growth of his eldest daughter, and at the same time, he tries to adapt to the situation he finds himself in with some new friends.
Durante la primera película, vemos como lucha por aceptar un nuevo camino, que lo aleja de las cuevas que siempre lo tuvieron a salvo. Por otro lado, en la segunda parte de esta aventura prehistórica, vemos como este hombre, lucha por aceptar el crecimiento de su hija mayor, y al mismo tiempo, busca adapatarse a la situación que se le presenta con unos nuevos amigos.
This father is old-fashioned, believing that everything he does is right, unaware of his family's aspirations. At the same time, he finds it hard to assimilate that there are other ways of seeing the world, and not just as a dangerous place. On the other hand, he tries to adapt to the situations they live in that lead him to become a caveman, to finally accept that things don't stay the same. Although his stories always end in tragedy.
Este padre, está chapado a la antigua, creyendo que todo lo que él hace está bien, sin darse cuenta de las aspiraciones de su familia. Al mismo tiempo, le cuesta asimilar que hay otras formas de ver el mundo, y no solo como un lugar peligroso. Por otro lado, intenta adaptarse a las situaciones que viven y que lo llevan a volverse un cavernícola, para finalmente aceptar que las cosas no se mantienen igual. The first film tells us not only how difficult it can be for a father to accept that his daughter has fallen in love with a stranger, but also that the stranger makes them feel useless or that they don't know what they are doing. These are situations that parents often live and do not talk about with their children, and wanting to keep them in "caves" to protect them does not do any good either, but it is difficult to let go of what they were taught was right.
La primera película nos cuenta no solo lo difícil que puede ser para un padre aceptar que su hija se enamoró de un extraño, también que ese extraño les haga sentir inútiles o que no saben lo que hacen. Son situacions que los padres, en muchas ocasiones viven y de la cual no hablan con los hijos, el querer mantenerlos en “cuevas” para protegerlos, tampoco hace bien, pero es difícil soltar lo que les enseñaron que era correcto.
During the second film, we see Grug, trying to be more civilized, and abide by a series of rules, something that inhibits him in many moments. At the same time, he seeks to accept that Pip has aspirations away from his family and that he will not stop loving them. At this point, he can begin to relate to another father like himself, who wants the best for his daughter, and who has sought to protect his family at any cost.
Durante la segunda película, vemos a Grug, intentar ser más civilizado, y acatar una serie de reglas, algo que lo cohibe en muchos momentos. Al mismo tiempo, busca ir aceptando que Pip tiene aspiraciones lejos de su familia y que no por eso dejará de quererlos. En este momento, puede empezar a relacionarse con otro padre como él, que quiere lo mejor para su hija, y que ha buscado proteger a su familia a cualquier costo.
At first seeing how Grug hates Guy, is quite funny, because they both seek to survive and protect the family, but have different methods of getting through or living. While Guy, has ideas and creations for all times, Grug is more blunt and thinks of using force as a defense mechanism, of course, he has the size and strength for that.
Al principio ver como Grug odia a Guy, es bastante gracioso, porque ambos buscan sobrevivir y proteger a la familia, pero tienen métodos diferentes para pasar o para vivir. Mientras que el joven, tiene ideas y creaciones para todo momento, Grug es más brusco y piensa en el uso de la fuerza como mecanismo de defensa, claro, tiene el tamaño y la fuerza para eso.
He is a very interesting character and one we can learn a lot from. Not only as parents (if any parent identifies with Grug), but also as children by realizing that parents are trying to take care of us. Even if sometimes it's hard for them to express their emotions.
Es un personaje muy interesante y del que podemos aprender mucho. No solamente como padres (si es que algún padre se identifica con Grug), también como hijos al darnos cuenta que los padres intentan cuidarnos. Aunque a veces les cueste expresar sus emociones.
