This week in 7th Art & More, we will be talking about "Donors" and it turns out that this is one of the movies that when we mention this topic is easy to recognize. Esta semana en 7mo Arte & Más, estaremos hablando de “Donantes” y resulta que esta es una de las películas que cuando mencionamos este tema es fácil de reconocer. Aquí te cuento un poco más de ella.
The story follows the Fitzgerald family, Anna is an 11 year old girl who, since birth is used as a donor for her older sister Kate, who suffers from Leukemia. The young girl raises the money and sues her parents with the help of a lawyer to receive medical emancipation in order to decide about her own body.

In this film, we see the point of view of the donor, in this case a girl, who has always considered that she must help save her sister. Watching over the safety not only of Kate, but also of Anna, who at her young age, has undergone many treatments to "cure" her sister, and has been hopitalized many more times for her, than for herself.
Anna, siempre se ha visto imposibilitada de decir que no le gusta ir al hospital, y el abogado le hace ver a la madre, lo que esto le ha ocasionado. Velar por la seguridad no solamente de Kate, también de Anna, quien a su corta edad, ha sido sometida a muchos tratamientos para “curar” a su hermana, y ha estado hopitalizada muchas más veces por ella, que por sí misma.
It's a very strong movie, it really made me cry. Not only in seeing the deterioration in Kate's illness, but also in what this is causing in her family. To see that even she realizes that her illness has overshadowed what her siblings do, and even more so has detracted from her own complications, makes her feel bad. On the other hand, she realizes that the time has come to give Anna a chance to decide for herself and relieves her of her responsibility.
Es una película muy fuerte, realmente me hizo llorar. No solamente por ver el deterioro en la enfermedad de Kate, también en lo que esto está causando en su familia. Ver que incluso ella se da cuenta que su enfermedad ha eclipsado lo que hacen sus hermanos, y más aún les ha quitado importancia a sus propias complicaciones, le hace sentir mal. Por otro lado, ella se da cuenta que ha llegado el momento de darle la oportunidad a Anna de decidir por sí misma y la libra de su responsabilidad.
I liked seeing that the father can understand Anna's feelings, and stands up for her regardless of what others think. As well as, the reaction of the siblings when they realize what their sister wants. The mother made me cry too, I'm not a mother, but I think anyone would have done the same as she did, do everything possible to save her daughter.
Me gustó ver que el padre puede entender el sentir de Anna, y la defiende a pesar de lo que piensen los demás. Así como también, la reacción de los hermanos al darse cuenta de lo que quiere su hermana. Me hizo llorar también la madre, no soy madre, pero creo que cualquiera hubiera hecho lo mismo que hizo ella, hacer todo lo posible por salvar a su hija.
