Hello friends, good vibes to all.
For some time now I have seen many stories and productions that involve a war theme, Extraction, The Coventant, Sisu, Plane, Liaison come to mind, and if we go further back we have The Terminal List, etc. And I think that from that group the one I had not seen yet was this one, a film that was released in April this year and that I had already been recommended to see. This kind of films or series, apart from the horror ones which you know is my favorite genre, are the ones I enjoy the most because strangely enough they end up being really bad, there will be exceptions of course but in general they are quite entertaining.
AKA or Alias in Spanish is a Netflix movie which is a French production, something that caught my attention because it is not the first time I see something from that country and therefore I know that they have quality. Another thing I noticed is that one of its protagonists is none other than Éric Cantona, for those who do not know this gentleman was an international footballer with France who played for Manchester United many years, one of the most important clubs in England. I knew he had made several movies before but I was surprised to see him here and do well because yes, I think he did a good job in front of the camera. But well, let's talk a little bit about what this fast-paced, action-packed film is all about.
This story, which is more like an action thriller, begins with Adam Franco (Alban Lenoir) the typical tough-as-nails special ops agent who is capable of taking down 10 men by himself. The thing is that given his reputation he is very good at carrying out missions but above all completing them successfully so he is called to face another of those missions but this time undercover, he will have to infiltrate one of the most dangerous and wanted criminal organizations in Europe in order to find out what their short-term plans are.
What happens? - Well, not everything goes as expected, there are factors that were not counted on that may compromise the entire operation. The most relevant factor in this case is a child, the son of the head of this organization, who strangely enough managed to win Adam's affection and appreciation. This will lead the agent to a crossroads because in some cases he will have to choose what to do, whether to continue with the mission or to attend to other things. We are talking about issues such as loyalty and commitment with which this man will have to fight and if necessary rethink things. As I said this is a pure action film with touches of drama given the decisions that are made which I personally enjoyed very much.
What to say about this film that you can't already imagine. It is a film where the word boredom, tiredness or annoyance does not exist because from the beginning you are immersed in a situation at the limit, one of those that are life or death and where we will see in a very neat and efficient way the skills of this type. For me that is important, that the letter of introduction of a film is direct and to the point, in many cases it is a signal or alert of what may come, which is usually the same or better. That's the thing with these films, it's true that they can be a bit monotonous at times but the intention to entertain is clear and they almost always fulfill it.
The story is simple, I dare say that even a little predictable, certainly there is a plot twist at the end of the film but in my case something already smelled from the beginning so I was not so surprised, there are details that indeed I did not know that if I took me off base but in general it was a situation that you can expect, to some extent. This does not make the story fall down because there are more characters and angles to attend, the plot has several edges which must be solved little by little in order to cross out the complications that can be generated.
What I liked the most is everything related to the action. The combat scenes, whether with firearms or melee, were 10 out of 10, nothing extraordinary or overacted, on the contrary, everything looked "natural", if that's the right expression. Sometimes when you watch a movie and someone is shot, don't you notice that in many occasions they fall in an exaggerated way? - I don't know why I thought this when I was watching one of these scenes and the way the bodies went to the ground is as you would expect, I didn't see any jump in the air or over expression and I don't know, I liked it, maybe it's a minor detail but I noticed it. There are explosions, fights, blood, overall very well done everything, partly because the lead actor is top, that helps.
Speaking of the protagonist, I must say that yes, everything that has to do with falling to blows and the handling of a firearm, whatever it is, was well done. There are actors who manage to make everything showy but without exaggerating and this was the case, as I mentioned, it is a simple film but with sequences that attract a lot of attention. Let's not talk about acting ability because it doesn't count here, only skill and physical prowess. Éric Cantona or Victor Pastore also surprised me, it is rare to see a person that you saw so much time on a soccer field playing soccer on the screen playing a gangster or a family boss, although it must be said that Cantona was a very volatile and quarrelsome player, he got into a lot of trouble, so on second thought, maybe the role was the right one for him.
I give it a 7.7/10, I think it is a good movie that entertains, has good scenes, the story is normal but also has details that call attention, in the end it is a good option to see. You can find it on Netflix and it lasts about two hours. I leave you the trailer so you can take a look at it.
Bueno mi gente por hoy es todo, espero que les haya gustado. ¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it. ¡A hug to everyone, see you next time!
