Alguna vez y quiero suponer que si, han jugado Sospecha? - ese es un juego en donde nos sentamos frente a un tablero para descubrir a un asesino, el arma homicida que este usó y el lugar en donde cometió dicho crimen, un juego de mesa de los preferidos de siempre porque por unos instantes nos convertimos en detectives, esto lo digo porque esta serie evoca mucho a dicho juego. Esta producción reciente de Amazon Prime llega con la finalidad de hacernos parte de una serie de investigaciones que se dan en un pueblo el cual parece estar hundido en una desgracia perenne al querer estar siempre como protagonista de tragedias tras tragedias. Por encima les puedo decir que desde el minuto uno estás totalmente conectado con la trama, es increíble lo que estos thrillers criminales pueden hacer con el espectador, te llevan a un punto de que sin darte cuenta ya viste media serie de un solo jalón.
Have you ever, and I want to guess that you have, played Sospecha? - that is a game where we sit in front of a board to discover a murderer, the murder weapon he used and the place where he committed the crime, a board game of all time favorite because for a few moments we become detectives, I say this because this series evokes much to the game. This recent production of Amazon Prime comes with the purpose of making us part of a series of investigations that occur in a town which seems to be sunk in a perennial misfortune to always want to be the protagonist of tragedy after tragedy. Above I can tell you that from minute one you are totally connected with the plot, it's amazing what these crime thrillers can do with the viewer, they take you to a point that without realizing you've already seen half a series in one sitting.
Doy con esta serie porque de vez en cuando me gusta pasearme por algunas de las opciones de streaming que hay para así ver que descubro, muchas veces el resultado es catastrófico y una perdida de tiempo brutal pero en otras ocasiones la sorpresa es grata y con Three Pines fue exactamente así. Una serie detectivesca en donde el jefe inspector es nada menos y nada menos que el "Doctor Octopus", el gran Alfred Molina, era sin duda algo que me daban ganas de ver. Así que durante sus ocho episodios estuve inmerso en una serie de asesinatos a los cuales había que buscarle un cierre y junto a los otros dos detectives fuimos recolectando pruebas y testimonios para dar con la mente criminal. Así de atrapante es que hablo en primera persona. Pero bueno, vamos y hablemos un poco más a profundidad de esta gran serie de Amazon Prime.
I find this series because from time to time I like to stroll through some of the streaming options out there to see what I discover, many times the result is catastrophic and a brutal waste of time but sometimes the surprise is pleasant and with Three Pines was exactly like that. A detective series where the chief inspector is nothing less and nothing less than the "Doctor Octopus", the great Alfred Molina, was certainly something I wanted to see. So during its eight episodes I was immersed in a series of murders to which I had to find a closure and together with the other two detectives we were collecting evidence and testimonies to find the criminal mind. That's how enthralling it is that I speak in the first person. But well, let's go and talk a little more in depth about this great Amazon Prime series.
Armand Gamache (Alfred Molina) es un detective inspector de alto rango de la policía quien junto a sus dos colegas les toca ir hasta un pueblo apartado y tranquilo, Three Pines, para resolver un aparente asesinato que ocurrió en plena luz del día. Es un pueblo que a primera vista parece muy acogedor pero cuando nos internamos más y comenzamos a conocer a las personas que habitan en el pues la cosa cambia, es gente que tiene secretos, que son extremadamente unidos entre ellos al punto que una cara extraña no la ven con los mejores ojos y lo más importante de todo, tienen una capacidad infinita para hacer incomodar a todo aquel que se propongan. A pesar de esto el jefe Gamache tiene que sortear estos obstáculos y otros cuantos más para darle claridad a un asesinato que denota mucho odio y rencor guardado en un pueblo tan pequeño.
Armand Gamache (Alfred Molina) is a high-ranking police detective inspector who along with his two colleagues must go to a remote and quiet town, Three Pines, to solve an apparent murder that occurred in broad daylight. It is a town that at first glance seems very cozy but when we go deeper and begin to know the people who live there, things change, they are people who have secrets, who are extremely close to each other to the point that a strange face is not seen with the best eyes and most important of all, they have an infinite capacity to make uncomfortable anyone they want to. Despite this, Chief Gamache has to overcome these obstacles and many others to bring clarity to a murder that denotes a lot of hatred and rancor kept in such a small town.
Pero la trama avanza un poco más cuando con el tiempo se descubre que el pasado de Three Pines no es tan alegre o normal como se piensa, hay una historia que involucra a los nativos americanos y todo su pasado por esas tierras bastante interesante. Además veremos como Gamache no solo batalla con los problemas de los demás sino que también le toca enfrentarse a fantasmas de su pasado que lo atormentan aún. Es una serie muy adictiva ya que la premisa principal es que hay gente en el pueblo que esconde algo, que no es quien dice ser y por tanto está mintiendo. Pero es que también hay mucho rencor y malicia en el aire y esos son ingredientes que pueden hacer detonar ciertos comportamientos en las personas. La historia es eso básicamente, ir desglosando a un pueblo hermético y raro.
But the plot advances a little more when we discover that the past of Three Pines is not as happy or normal as we think, there is a story that involves Native Americans and all their past in those lands quite interesting. In addition we will see how Gamache not only battles with the problems of others but also has to face ghosts from his past that still haunt him. It is a very addictive series since the main premise is that there are people in town who are hiding something, who are not who they say they are and therefore are lying. But there is also a lot of resentment and malice in the air and those are ingredients that can trigger certain behaviors in people. The story is basically that, breaking down a hermetic and strange town.
Three Pines tiene una estructura interesante, son ocho capítulos los cuales están divididos en 4 historias diferentes, es decir, cada dos episodios es un crimen nuevo. Pero lo cool es que todos ellos giran alrededor de un mismo eje, el pequeño pueblo. Como les dije es un thriller criminal, uno muy bueno porque los asesinatos no son porque si, hay un contexto detrás que a lo largo de la serie se va desenredando poco a poco, no es por justificarlos pero cada uno de ellos tiene una razón de ser, todos tiene un pasado oscuro que simplemente no encontraron una mejor solución que la muerte. Ese contexto nos lleva al otro genero, el drama. Hay mucho de él en estas historias, unos bastantes tristes y lamentables porque la mayoría por no decir todos involucran problemas familiares, problemas en donde el luto, la envidia, la codicia, el resentimiento y sobre todo la venganza son los protagonistas principales.
Three Pines has an interesting structure, there are eight chapters which are divided into four different stories, that is, every two episodes is a new crime. But the cool thing is that they all revolve around the same axis, the small town. As I said it is a crime thriller, a very good one because the murders are not just because, there is a context behind that throughout the series is unraveling little by little, not to justify them but each of them has a reason for being, all have a dark past that simply did not find a better solution than death. That context leads us to the other genre, drama. There is a lot of it in these stories, some of them quite sad and regrettable because most if not all involve family problems, problems where mourning, envy, greed, resentment and above all revenge are the main protagonists.
Uno puede ser capaz alguna de vez de justificar un asesinato o sentir empatía por aquel que comete el crimen? - sin duda es una pregunta complicada pero es una que nos hacemos a lo largo de la serie. Y es que muchas veces cuando vemos lo que finalmente pasó y las razones que sirvieron de motor para cometer estos crímenes nos entra esa duda si lo que hicieron al final estuvo bien, si simplemente todas esas personas se merecían el destino que les tocó. Es extraño tener esos cuestionamientos cuando las respuestas son muy claras o por lo menos para mi, pero es lo que tiene la serie, situaciones que por uno u otra razón se salen de las manos y terminan en la fatalidad. Todo esto es otra de las razones del por que esta serie es tan buena, no solo te atrapa para buscar y descubrir las piezas sino que también te invita a jugar a ser juez, cosa que ya les digo no es nada sencilla.
Can one ever be able to justify a murder or empathize with the one who commits the crime? - It is undoubtedly a complicated question but it is one that we ask ourselves throughout the series. And many times when we see what finally happened and the reasons that served as an engine to commit these crimes, we doubt if what they did in the end was right, if all these people simply deserved the fate that befell them. It is strange to have those questions when the answers are very clear or at least for me, but that's what the series has, situations that for one reason or another get out of hand and end in fatality. All this is another reason why this series is so good, not only traps you to search and discover the pieces but also invites you to play judge, which is not an easy thing to do.
La trama tiene dos historias que van en simultaneo, los asesinatos y una desaparición. Tienen y no tienen que ver una cosa con la otra a pesar de involucrar a casi las mismas personas. Que significa esto? - pues que como les dije hay un contexto histórico importante que tiene que ver con las personas aborígenes. Todo lo que ocurre acá está relacionado entre si y el hilo conductor en gran parte de lo que sucede son estas personas y el caso que las involucra. Es por esto que tienen que estar pendiente de los detalles que cada vez van saliendo a a luz. Es un gran rompecabezas y vuelvo a repetir, es el juego de Sospecha en su mayor expresión. Lo mejor de todo? - que se disfruta mucho.
The plot has two stories running simultaneously, the murders and a disappearance. They have and have nothing to do with each other even though they involve almost the same people. What does this mean? - Well, as I said, there is an important historical context that has to do with the aboriginal people. Everything that happens here is related to each other and the common thread in much of what happens are these people and the case that involves them. That is why they have to be aware of the details that are coming to light every time. It is a great puzzle and I repeat, it is the game of Suspicion at its best. The best thing about it? - It is very enjoyable.
Los personajes. No es una serie que necesite de grandes actuaciones ni interpretaciones, no va por ahí la cosa, acá lo que reina es el contenido como tal, tanto su desarrollo como el desenlace. Pero si es verdad que Alfred Molina nos regala un muy buen drama que viene dado por sus problemas y traumas que no logra superar. Vive en una lucha constante entre el pasado y el presente y eso lo vemos reflejado en agonía y desesperación en su día a día. En realidad los tres detectives tienen sus batallas personales y eso me gustó, siento que los humanizaron mucho porque son problemas con los que tienen que lidiar a diario, problemas comunes y dolorosos. De resto son personajes muy peculiares pero con los que nunca llegué a conectar, o por lo menos yo. De repente la familia Two-Rivers puede que colee por ahí pero no más.
The characters. It is not a series that needs great performances or interpretations, it does not go that way, here what reigns is the content as such, both its development and outcome. But it is true that Alfred Molina gives us a very good drama that comes from his problems and traumas that he is unable to overcome. He lives in a constant struggle between the past and the present and we see this reflected in agony and despair in his daily life. Actually the three detectives have their personal battles and I liked that, I feel that they were humanized a lot because they are problems they have to deal with every day, common and painful problems. Otherwise they are very peculiar characters but I never really connected with them, or at least I never did. Suddenly the Two-Rivers family might hang around but no more.
Una espectacular serie a la que le doy 8.5/10, siento que todo aquel que pueda y quiera la debería de ver, la recomiendo ampliamente. Un excelente thriller criminal y detectivesco que no deja indiferente a nadie. Está en Amazon Prime y consta de 8 episodios de una hora aproximadamente cada uno. A spectacular series to which I give 8.5/10, I feel that everyone who can and wants to should see it, I highly recommend it. An excellent criminal and detective thriller that leaves no one indifferent. It is on Amazon Prime and consists of 8 episodes of about an hour each. Esta es la primera vez que la escucho, ya que no tengo cuenta esa plataforma de películas, aun si la historia y lo que nos presenta la misma, me llama mucho la atención, además ese juego que comentas al principio no es nada fácil, puesto que nos mantiene atento a cualquier movimiento o pista que aparezca. Me gustan las series que invitan a participar al espectador en su trama y está parece hacerlo. No soy tan fan de este tipo de género, pero suelo consumirlo cuando veo algo que puede llamar mi atención y con tu reseña logro darme curiosidad.
La tengo anotada, me gustan mucho las historias sobre crímenes y la investigación. Cuando las series de thrillers nórdicos se puso de moda me devore muchas de esas series y en Inglaterra siempre sacan miniseries o series sobre crímenes. Hay muchos espectadores que les gusta, al igual que publico que consume libros de esta temática. Esta cuenta con Alfred Molina, otro punto fuerte para verla.
