El universo de series es muy grande por lo que es probable que muchas de ellas no sean tan reconocidas y vistas como deberían dada su calidad en la trama. Yellowjackets es un buen ejemplo de ellas. A esta serie recuerdo que llegué por casualidad y ya vamos por la tercera temporada y a la espera de una cuarta entrega que aún no estamos cerca de saber para cuando sería. Esto es una historia que pudiéramos catalogar como un thriller psicológico, drama, suspenso, misterio y mucha supervivencia. Pero lo realmente interesante es que para poder lograr esa supervivencia apelan o se dejan guiar por cosas paranormales, supuestamente; al mismo tiempo dando a entender que todo aquello es producido por problemas mentales producto de muchos traumas vividos.

The universe of series is very large so it is likely that many of them are not as recognized and seen as they should be given their quality in the plot. Yellowjackets is a good example of them. I remember that I came to this series by chance and we are already in the third season and waiting for a fourth installment that we are still not close to know when it would be. This is a story that could be classified as a psychological thriller, drama, suspense, mystery and a lot of survival. But what is really interesting is that in order to achieve that survival they appeal or let themselves be guided by paranormal things, supposedly; at the same time implying that all that is produced by mental problems product of many traumas lived.

Rápidamente les comento. Este grupo de muchachas son un equipo de fútbol llamado "Yellowjackets" y que tuvieron un accidente aéreo que las dejó varadas en medio de un vasto bosque en unas montañas. Alejadas de todo, entre ellas han buscado la manera de sobrevivir como puedan llegando a hacer las cosas más inimaginables posibles dentro de lo que la cordura humana sea capaz de procesar. Ha pasado más de un año y en esta tercera temporada parece que están un poco más cerca de lograr salir de aquel lugar pero todo se tuerce muy rápido porque es tal el grado de disociación mental que tienen que no les permite ver las cosas con claridad.

Quickly I tell you. This group of girls are a soccer team called “Yellowjackets” and they had a plane crash that left them stranded in the middle of a vast forest in the mountains. Away from everything, among them they have sought ways to survive as they can, doing the most unimaginable things possible within what human sanity is capable of processing. More than a year has passed and in this third season it seems that they are a little closer to get out of that place but everything goes wrong very quickly because the degree of mental dissociation they have is such that it does not allow them to see things clearly.

En paralelo veremos la vida de ellas en la actualidad siendo adultas. Evidentemente se sabe que las rescatan, lo que muestra la serie es el proceso para llegar a ese momento y las secuelas que quedaron después de haber estado más de un año perdidas. Cada temporada se hunde más en la trama y es que si, las adultas tienen muchos asuntos que resolver porque han hecho varias cosas bastante cuestionables relacionadas con su pasado. Ellas tienen muchos secretos que si salieran a la luz terminarían con sus vidas en un foso por lo que esa "hermandad" que ellas crearon en la naturaleza la tienen que mantener a toda costa. La cosa es que en esta última temporada se comienzan a ver las grietas porque las situaciones se empiezan a salir de control.

In parallel, we will see their lives as adults. Evidently it is known that they are rescued, what the series shows is the process to get to that moment and the sequels that were left after being lost for more than a year. Each season sinks deeper into the plot and yes, the adults have a lot of issues to resolve because they have done several questionable things related to their past. They have many secrets that if they came to light would end their lives in a pit so that “sisterhood” that they created in nature have to maintain at all costs. The thing is that in this last season the cracks begin to show because situations start to get out of control.

La trama no aburre porque en las dos épocas siempre están pasando cosas: en el bosque el rollo es más de sobrevivir sea como sea mientras que en el presente es todo más detectivesco porque como dije, las tragedias siempre están con ellas por lo que les toca resolver el caos que ellas mismas ocasionan. La premisa es que hay algo sobrenatural que las provoca, un "algo" que está en todos lados que constantemente está pidiendo sacrificios y ellas actúan en consecuencia. Mi premisa es que es tanto lo que ellas vivieron en el bosque que al final les terminó por afectar la mente al punto de que creo que están realmente dañadas y con serios problemas sin resolver.

The plot is not boring because in both times things are always happening: in the forest the plot is more about surviving no matter what, while in the present it is more detective-like because as I said, tragedies are always with them, so they have to solve the chaos they cause themselves. The premise is that there is something supernatural that provokes them, a “something” that is everywhere that is constantly asking for sacrifices and they act accordingly. My premise is that what they experienced in the forest is so much that in the end it ended up affecting their minds to the point that I believe they are really damaged and with serious unresolved problems.

Yellowjackets es una serie muy cruda, gráfica, con violencia y gore; siempre hay sangre y cosas fatales ocurriendo. En esta tercera temporada ese ritmo no baja, esa esencia no se pierde, de hecho hay un par de muertes que son un claro ejemplo de esto. Otras de las cosas que destacan mucho son los plot twist que hay, en los dos últimos episodios vemos varios que la verdad no me esperaba, hay veces que uno los ve venir a lo lejos pero estos no; de lo mejor que tiene la serie. Y finalmente hablar del nivel actoral. El cast está muy bien logrado, conseguir un mismo personaje en dos actrices es complejo pero acá con todas las protagonistas lo hicieron a la perfección.

Yellowjackets is a very raw, graphic series, with violence and gore; there is always blood and fatal things happening. In this third season that rhythm does not drop, that essence is not lost, in fact there are a couple of deaths that are a clear example of this. Other things that stand out a lot are the plot twists, in the last two episodes we see several that I really did not expect, there are times when you see them coming from afar but not these; one of the best things the series has. And finally to talk about the acting level. The cast is very well done, getting the same character in two actresses is complex but here with all the main characters they did it perfectly.

Destaco a Sophie Thatcher, Melanie Lynskey, Sophie Nélisse y a Christina Ricci. Actúan realmente bien, muy buenos personajes. En realidad todas las mujeres que salen acá son unas genias, nada negativo que decir. La tercera temporada terminó con muchas expectativas y muchos cabos sueltos por lo que la trama seguirá ahondando en los problemas de este grupos de amigas. Son 10 capítulos. Le doy un 8/10. Es de esas series que creo que más personas deberían de estar viéndolas. Les dejo el tráiler.

I highlight Sophie Thatcher, Melanie Lynskey, Sophie Nélisse and Christina Ricci. They act really well, very good characters. In fact, all the women who appear here are geniuses, nothing negative to say. The third season ended with high expectations and many loose ends, so the plot will continue to delve into the problems of this group of friends. There are 10 chapters. I give it an 8/10. It is one of those series that I think more people should be watching. I leave you the trailer.
