The story and characters of this film might be unfamiliar to many people, especially younger generations. But let me tell you something: it will bring back a lot of memories for your parents or grandparents. Ask your grandfather if he remembers Moana Pozzi and Cicciolina. He’ll probably play dumb or change the subject, given how hypocritical society can be regarding the adult film industry.

That industry continues to generate millions in profits. Today, thanks to modern technology, it is consumed right in the palm of one's hand—on mobile phones—and is accessible to everyone. It is available in every imaginable form, whether paid or free. Many people have consumed it at some point; yet, they hide it and act scandalized if you even so much as hint that they’ve enjoyed an adult movie (or "video," as they’re called now). But that’s just how it is; there’s nothing to be done about it.

The film is based on a book by Debora Attanasio, who worked with the real-life figures at the heart of the story. She has written other works covering that era and the lives of some of these characters. After all, even if they weren't scientists or saving the world, they did provide entertainment for several generations—especially for those who loved seeing women with unshaven bodies. It was the eighties, and back then, shaving intimate areas wasn't a trend in adult cinema. Hahaha.

Riccardo Schicchi was a pioneer in adult cinema and launched the careers of what could be considered the first true porn stars. Just as Hollywood had its star system, this underground industry—which was actually banned in many places at the time—had its own major icons. The film chronicles Schicchi’s life from the very beginning, exploring his worldview, his concepts of freedom and pleasure, and his ideas about love and art. After all, the people behind this type of cinema are human beings with feelings, too; they aren't mere machines mass-producing the content seen in these works.

The character is fascinating; he’s like a child. That said, since the film is based on a book written by someone who worked for him, it only shows his gentler side. Ultimately, only those who knew him personally knew what he was truly like. Even so, the people who were part of his life—and who are still alive today—largely agree on what his personality was like.

Naturally, the film also features the character of Cicciolina, with whom Schicchi founded the company that gives the film its title. It also includes Moana Pozzi—another major adult film star of that era—and Éva Henger, Schicchi’s wife and the great love of his life. The casting team deserves applause for finding actresses who bore an astonishing physical resemblance to the real people they portrayed. I was particularly impressed by the actress playing Cicciolina; she was the spitting image of the original.

By the way, if you look up information on these real people, make sure you’re alone and that no one is looking at your phone or computer with you; otherwise, videos of them "in the act" might pop up. Consider yourself warned; don't blame me if your wife or girlfriend catches you watching racy videos online. Although, come to think of it, they might just laugh at the fashions of that era... or get in the mood for a passionate moment themselves. That’s up to you.

I love it when productions that tell the story of this industry are released. I don't deal in hypocrisy or nonsense. When I was quite young, I spent my time watching adult movies on VHS, looking at magazines, and so on. I’m not ashamed to say I’m heterosexual—especially these days, when it seems like being a man is considered a crime.

There are two aspects that make the film uneven. The first issue is that it doesn't delve deeply enough into many topics I would have liked to see explained in greater detail, such as the founding of the Love Party and the foray of Moana and Cicciolina into politics. There are glimpses of this, but without much depth. The film uses time jumps to tell the story and focuses more on Schicchi's personality. The second problem is its long runtime—it lasts a little over two hours; although it starts at a very frenetic pace, that momentum fades halfway through, and the film begins to feel like it’s stalling.

In any case, I watched the whole thing and found it quite entertaining, partly because it uses humor to handle certain situations. For me, it is a film that—while not perfect—is interesting to watch.

Esa industria sigue generando millones en beneficios. Al igual que Hollywood tenía su sistema de estrellas, esta industria clandestina —que en aquel entonces incluso estaba prohibida en muchos lugares— contaba con sus propias grandes figuras. La película narra la vida de Schicchi desde sus inicios, abarcando su visión del mundo, su concepto de libertad y disfrute, así como sus ideas sobre el amor y el arte. Después de todo, las personas detrás de este tipo de cine también son seres humanos con sentimientos; no son simples máquinas que producen en masa el contenido que se ve en estas obras.

El personaje es fascinante; es como un niño. Eso sí, dado que la película se basa en un libro escrito por alguien que trabajó para él, solo se muestra su faceta más amable. En última instancia, solo quienes lo conocieron personalmente sabían cómo era realmente. Dicho esto, las personas que formaron parte de su vida —y que aún viven hoy— coinciden en gran medida sobre su personalidad.

Naturalmente, la película también presenta al personaje de Cicciolina, con quien Schicchi fundó la compañía que da título al filme. También incluye a Moana Pozzi —otra gran estrella del cine para adultos de aquella época— y a Éva Henger, esposa de Schicchi y el gran amor de su vida. El reparto merece un aplauso por encontrar actrices que guardaban un parecido físico asombroso con las personas reales a las que interpretaban. Me impresionó especialmente la actriz que encarna a Cicciolina; era la viva imagen de la original.

Por cierto, si buscas información sobre estas personas reales, asegúrate de estar solo y de que nadie mire tu teléfono u ordenador contigo; de lo contrario, podrían aparecer vídeos de ellas "en plena faena". Que conste que te he avisado; no me culpes si tu mujer o novia te pilla viendo vídeos subidos de tono en internet. Aunque, pensándolo bien, puede que simplemente se rían de la moda de aquella época... o que se animen a vivir un momento de pasión. Eso ya depende de ti.

Me encanta cuando se estrenan producciones que cuentan la historia de esta industria. No me ando con hipocresías ni tonterías. Cuando era bastante joven, pasaba el tiempo viendo películas para adultos en VHS, mirando revistas, etcétera. No me avergüenza decir que soy heterosexual, sobre todo en los tiempos que corren, en los que parece que ser hombre se considera un delito.

Hay dos aspectos que hacen que la película sea irregular. El primero es que no profundiza lo suficiente en muchos temas que me habría gustado ver explicados con más detalle, como la fundación del Love Party y la incursión de Moana y Cicciolina en la política. Se ven algunos atisbos de ello, pero sin profundizar demasiado. La película utiliza saltos temporales para narrar la historia y se centra más en la personalidad de Schicchi. El segundo problema es su larga duración: dura algo más de dos horas; Aunque comienza con un ritmo muy frenético, ese impulso decae a mitad de la película y esta empieza a dar la sensación de estancarse.

En cualquier caso, la vi entera y me pareció bastante entretenida, en parte porque utiliza el humor para abordar ciertas situaciones. Para mí, es una película que —aunque no sea perfecta— resulta interesante de ver.
